Well that was a game! There were ups and there were downs, but in the end the Vikings turned it one when it really mattered and came away with the win. It was great to see cook finally break loose on that long TD. It seems like it has been FOREVER since we have seen that happen. IN the end, it wasn’t a perfect game, it was hardly a pretty game, but it was a game that this team fought through and came out on top. IT may have taken until their last few possessions to really take control but they did. A win is a win, and the Minnesota Vikings are 5-1 and in control of the NFC North. The Packers lost to another NY team, the Bears lost on Thursday, and the Lions were on a bye. I couldn’t think of a better way to head into a week 6 bye…unless we were 6-0.
You know what else was great? Watching the defense get after it yesterday. Especially Z Smith. Talk about a great free agent pickup. I think Will hits it right on the head with this one. Also, Patrick Jones stepped up in a huge way with Wonnum out getting two sacks of this own.

This has probably already been discussed ad nauseum, but I got the story on the Kirk pic above today. Apparently, after the London game Darrisaw put his chain on Kirk for the ride home (the “CD” with spinning rim). Now that may become the new road win event, since several other players added their bling to Kirk’s neck for the ride home yesterday. The jet is obviously JJ, “Z” is Z’darius. There’s a couple tweets out there with the guys celebrating with Kirk headbobbing with his bling. They’re all having fun. I get the vibe of “yes, we all (including him) acknowledge he’s a dork, but he’s our dork and we just left this place with a Dub so we celebrate together.” Here’s hoping he looks like Mr. T by the end of the season.

Seems I follow Mr. Vanderbilt around, I have also visited his summer “cottage” AKA Breakers in Rhode Island. Had some of Hattie B’s hot chicken (I got it hot, not shut the cluck up), but for lunch our first day we walked down to some place my Fargo buddy ate at a lot in NYC, called Cava, kinda trendy Mediterranean food (Five = “low grade dog food”). Because of the proximity to Vandy the place was packed with college students and I also believe it was homecoming as all the ladies were wearing dresses, cowboy hats, and boots. Let’s just say I don’t remember the ladies being so nattily dressed back at the U of Alberta.

You would be flabbergasted if you knew how many people are grateful to get a negative scan result. My Fargo buddy is a neurologist and he said he basically tells people the same thing, I highly doubt there is anything organically wrong but every so often a scan uncovers something significant, so it is up to you if you want me to order a scan. Virtually 100% of people elect to have a scan.

Got set up to watch the game yesterday on my phone, signed into my NFL+ account, scrolled down to Vikings/Dolphins, and the damn thing would only give me audio, no video.
Clicked on the 3 dots, it brought up an option for Home team or Away team broadcasters, and a message saying “Video for this game only available on mobile devices or tablet.” WTF?
Do you mean during the game or after the game? I watched the game about two hours after it ended on the NFL app on my XBox. Unless I am mistaken, I do not believe you can watch the games live even on the new improved version of GamePass, NFL+.

I live in Eau Claire, which is Packer market. They showed the Vikings/Lions last weekend.
NFL+ is only showing games in your local market – the week before GB was in London so that’s why they were on local in Packer country. That’s why you got only audio – I signed up too but because of the audio package. $5 a month and I enjoy the PA/Bercich duo. I get most Vikes games down here but it’s a nice backup for when I don’t.

Nope. I had to go through some sign in process to the app through YouToob TV and then again to access the NFL+ subscription but worked flawlessly from there. The default was scores visible so I had to find the pushbutton to turn those off, looking through my slitted fingers.

Got another interesting tid bit from my weekend. Was talking to a local farmer at the bar Friday night, about 5 years older than me. I was telling him about my trip to SC and he mentions he knows some people from SC who are coming up to stay on his land to hunt ducks for the next 10 days or so. All kind of younger guys in the mid 20s, all of them from well off families and have plenty of money. Turns out one of them is Hunter Renfrow’s younger brother. I was hoping to meet him but he wouldnt get there until Monday. I wanted to look him in the face and tell him his brother sucks lol.

Was a good time! Didnt really go too far. Wedding was supposed to be in Charleston on a resort there but they canceled all reservations on Wednesday afternoon and were kicking everyone out. So I had to scramble and call and see if the wedding was still on, it was, moved to Myrtle beach. Bought a last second plane ticket to Myrtle and landing Thursday afternoon. Our group of about 25 were the only people in the hotel on the beach because of the Hurricane, day drank through the whole thing, got to experience the storm which was neat. Saturday morning was beautiful, beach was surprisingly clean, had wedding ceremony, went out to eat after and partied it up. Woke up Sunday morning feeling not so good, watched the Vikes on my phone since hotel didnt have NFL network. Flew back Monday.

I summarized somewhere else in this thread taking the doggo out pheasant hunting on Saturday. Was a perfect day for bird hunting and he performed very well, “pointed” and flushed numerous pheasants. I was carrying the shotgun but didn’t take any shots, I was concentrating on watching his form and gave him a couple of redirect whistle commands. He is in his hunting prime now, this is when pheasant hunting becomes automatic.

I’ve been to Cocoa Beach many a time. Little south of you at the Cape. There is a military base there (Patrick), beach right across the road, never had any bad experience there and the waves are fun for kiddos.
We had a blast on the beach. I hadn’t spent any real time on the beach since my army days at Ft. Ord CA. We had a really good time.

I liked Memphis (which we visited three years ago) much more than Nashville. The latter is too big, Honky Tonk Highway is full of drunks and smells of piss and vomit, and city is just plain crowded. They say it is the fastest growing metro area in the US and I believe it. Gatlinburg/Great Smokies was as advertised, slower pace, beautiful scenery with the leaves changing and fog in the valleys.
Chattanooga is beautiful, too, IMO. Far better than Nashville.

It seems like every year I watch less and less football in September/October. I wish the league started in November. And I wish they’d also do away with noon games.
