I hope you all are having a blessed and relaxing day with your families. My prayer at the table every year for Thanksgiving is “Help us to be thankful for all we have, and to not worry about what we don’t have”, so I hope we can all keep that in mind today. I also like to keep our military men and women in my thoughts today, as many of them aren’t able to be home with their families, as they are off somewhere defending the freedoms we enjoy.

Lol….so wanted to start changing the oil in my wife’s Outback now that it’s 5 yrs old and she’s finally tired of taking it to the dealer. She’s particular about her shit and liked paying for unnecessary $100 oil changes. I’ve done all my own car’s for years, it’s as simple as it comes. So ordered some liquid moly per suggestions here and a couple genuine Subaru oil filters. Drive it up on the ramps, crawl underneath located the oil plug, MF’er is on there so damn tight an impact wrench, socket extension, fucking 2 foot pry bar cant get it to break loose. Look up on the internet and it’s a common theme post dealer changes to find it on there so damn tight you can’t get it off. I didn’t want to break the damn thing so I guess I have to take it to the dealer to have them loosen it lol…fucks.

Yeah, they torque the eff out of them. I tried on a tire change once, had leverage on my side, couldn’t budge. Fuckers.
I’ll let it warm up more next try, tap on it with a hammer and see it that breaks it free.
Anytime I have tire work done I’ll demand they use a torque wrench and not a hi-impact. Years ago my dad damn near lost a wheel on the interstate while pulling a boat. Hi-impact wrench along with aluminum wheels – sheared the bolts clean off. 3 of the 5 on 3 tires were gone when he stopped. Could have been catastrophic.

I don’t trust the rinky dink chains like jiffy lube who hire these kids with one guy who might know what he’s doing and start cranking on shit. I’ve got a couple more things to try first or just have the dealer get it loosened and then put it back in there marginally tightened so I can change it from there on out.
dealers are such rip offs though. Think brakes plus is pretty good.
