Vikings @ Lions
We knew going in that this was going to be a tough game. Going into Detroit and beating the Lions was going to require making minimal mistakes, and forcing the Lions to make mistakes. The Vikings did the opposite, and the result as is expected. The Vikings lost 23-34, and the defense looked as bad as they’ve looked all year, which is a bold statement considering how horrendous they’ve looked this year at times.
LOL, I’m sitting here writing this, & I ask my wife what she wants for Christmas. She said “a dutch oven”.
Anyway, the Viking defense was horrible yesterday. Kirk Cousins and JJ were on fire, but the defense couldn’t stop anything. The Vikings were outcoached in most facets of the game. The bright spot(s) from yesterday were Kirk Cousins and Justin Jefferson, those two were on fire all day. The rest of the team wasted a beautiful performance. The officiating was poor, but the Vikings lost the game. They just got beaten yesterday.
The Colts: Next Up
Time to dust off and get ready for the Colts, a home game with a Saturday kickoff, the first of two consecutive Saturday games for the Vikings. The loss didn’t surprise anyone, so learn from it and move on. They do need to do something about the defense, though.

The Jefferson catch where he was short of the first down. You clearly don’t understand NFL rules so I’ll explain it for you. Forward progress only applies if the runner is contacted by the defender when they are passed the line to gain and then are pushed behind it. NOBODY TOUCHED JJ. JJ caught the ball and then fell BEHIND the line of scrimmage BEFORE going out of bounds or being touched, it the same as if he caught the ball, ran back behind the line to gain and went out of bounds, it is still not a first down. Please educate yourself on the rules.

You have Cook, JJ, Thielen, and Hock as red zone weapons. I think it was not a great playcall but that is just my opinion. I would have ran a jet sweep to Reagor, or hell to Hock before I would have called that at the goal line.

Agree on all. Used PFF grades to gauge individual talent, and the defense has talent. They aren’t going to be a top 10 defense, but they have the talent to be average, and Donatell has them at worst in the league.

Pat Pete has had a good rebound season but QBs mostly throw over the middle or at the CB opposite him, he fits well in the zone scheme
H. Smith is not what he used to be but still a good player and fits fine in the scheme but Dumbatell has not used him as the swiss army knife type player he
Dumbatell sucks as a DC and has Smith and Hunter dropping into coverage where they suck, are lost, and have no value.
Add up players the players who are not a fit or not as good as they were + a numbnuts DC and it = dogshit defense.
We have too many guys getting to the stage in their career where their reputation exceeds their present reality, IMO.

Cook fumble. You can argue all day if KOC should have called it, but Cook either needs to throw it into the back of the endzone there or tuck the ball and take a sack.

That’s funny. IMO you can debate if we should have hired KOC, but Zim needed to go.
Yeah Zim needed to go. this team isn’t all that different from last year, explosive but not super effecient on offense, dogshit defense, ST ok overall but kicker sucks. The biggest difference has been KOC managing the game better than Zim did, or at least players executing better in critical moments, like the last 2 mins of halves. Team seems looser overall but always all skittles and handjobs until you start losing.
Just in case the Vikings start winning again, where do I go to collect on these skittles and hand jobs? I guess I missed out on both earlier in the season when times were good.

The Minnesota Vikings Defense is superb at making average QBs look great. How can players be SO open on third down, in the middle of the field? I think I may be able to complete many of those passes. Wow!

Let’s Talk About the Vikings Defense…….Again – Skoloholics
What is there really to say? Its bad, has been bad the majority of the season and the last 4 games averages about 450 yards and 33 points per game.
The fact that it’s getting progressively worse is the main cause for alarm. You can’t go into the playoffs with the worst defense in the NFL.
They play 4 bad or horrible offenses the next 4 weeks so I doubt they end up the worst but they’ll definitely be the worst in the playoffs.
They really went to shit in the last 5 games. Prior to the Dallas game, they gave up yards but were #16 in points.
Now they are a liability.
You can’t play zone if you can’t pass rush. The receivers will find the gaps and the QBs can hit a wide open guy sitting in a gap in the zone.
I saw a stat that we blitzed on 9 of there 39 drop backs, which is about 23%. So we do blitz. I can’t find the stats to see how we compare league wide, but I’d beat we are in the bottom half for blitzing.
Bottom line is we have to generate pressure to play Donatels scheme.
No pressure = we are fucked

Yeah I feel bad after Gone Fishin’ expressed admiration for his resilience and character but I am tired of hearing what a difference maker he is in games from the commentary crew. The difference he makes is he isn’t putting up near the rushing yards of the opposition.

Good topic for discussion, what was your most “oh s***” moment at work?
Mine was a very brief summer job I got in high school through “Hire a Student”, was hired to do coarse leather cutting and cleanup at a saddlery. About three days in they had me rounding off the edges of the leather on the seat of a trophy saddle, tool slipped and gouged across the seat. and. that. was. that.
I almost dropped a plow onto my boss’ legs one time. He told me to let it down, I couldn’t see that he wasn’t out from underneath it yet, I dropped the jack, he managed to get his legs between the blades on the plow so it didn’t hit him. Yikes. That was close.
I’d have to go with something similar to this video but on a much smaller scale. All I ended up spilling was 4 big pallets of Sunny D. Worked out to be a couple hundred gallons on the ground, outside of the bottles. Right at the end of a shift too when I was in college. I had a final the next day and went to help somebody finish their job. Ended up getting to stick around for a few more hours than planned.
mine was when i was cleaning our shop at nights during college for extra cash and i was running the floor scrubber and was air drumming to my music and didn’t turn in time and knocked over a dozen or so caterpillar crankshafts (500lbs each) and couldn’t get them picked up so had to leave them for the day crew and they were PISSED
I won’t talk about my military adventures. But, growing up on a farm, bailing straw, I ran up to the tractor (which was moving at about 5 mph) and jumped in front of the left rear tire to climb up into the cab. Done this a million times, but, this time, I slipped and fell under the large rear tire. The driver was able to stop the tractor just as it was climbing onto my belly. It had already crushed my right leg. Yep, a big Oh Shit moment for a 16-year old kid.
After a couple months, I was fine. Lucky little shit.
I responded to an ad once that told me they could turn $100 into $4,000 in a week.

Way back in the early 2000s I ended up purchasing $5,000 worth of software we didn’t need simply because I didn’t properly read the fine print in a contract….
Stupid, Stupid, Stupid…Our CEO was less than impressed.
Mine was when my secretary brought me the wrong lunch and I gave her a stern lecture.
I had 2 good ones working in Semicon.
1st was working on our field controller program backups, out of 70+ controllers I managed to make one upload/download mistake (Johnson Controls does upload/download from the POV of the controller, i.e. “upload from, download to the controller”) and downloaded a blank program to the process chilled water controller – semicon equipment is not happy when they suddenly get no chilled water to regulate internal temps. Had to sprint back up to my computer and grab the most recent program and hope it was the right one to go download back into the field controller. Shut down the factory from ~3:30 pm to 11 pm or so. Didn’t cause any equipment to break though, which is nice because those machines cost around a million dollars to replace.
2nd was tripping a fire detector during maintenance, but crucially before disabling the fire suppression, on a piece of equipment and causing the CO2 suppression to go off inside the machine. Cleanroom equipment isn’t exactly happy to get 2 100 lb tanks of CO2 discharged inside. I think it took about 3 days of cleaning to get that equipment back up and running.
Johnson controls
Semiconductor manufacturing/clean rooms are amazing.
They sure are expensive to maintain. Gotta keep the whole darn thing HEPA filtered and can’t change by more than 1 degree C over an hour (call that ‘ramp’). Humidity also has to stay 40-60% and can’t ramp more than 5%.
Around 80,000 sq ft of cleanroom space cost $6 million a year in electricity (with industrial elec rate in 2015/6) – most of that is maintaining air temp and humidity and changeover.
What’s funny is the air showers we had to “clean” your bunny suit before entering always failed the ISO particle monitoring unless you did it very carefully. We called ’em particle showers.
Got stabbed one time at work, thought about quitting but just went back after getting stiches.

Other than the false start there wasn’t much of a difference, the pressures on Kirk came mostly from the edges and I doubt he’d have made much difference in the run game.
Running up the middle on 4th down… but that was a bad play call with a back up center imo.
It was a bad decision to begin with, then to run out of the shotgun was worse. Bad coaching.
Also, Schlottman wasn’t the reason the 4th down play failed, Okudah came in from the secondary untouched and made the play.
Agreed but the idea of let’s run behind our backup center on 4th is very questionable.
Going for it in the first place is stupid, the playcall to run out of shotgun was even worser.

That probably seems right although Bears players may be thinking about Cabo and be checked out. They’re already mathamatically eliminated. Puke could be too by then and players with even minor injuries likely sit out as they likely dont want to get hurt worse and rehab all offseason.
I think we go 3-1. But if we stumble and Niners clinch 2nd seed, I could see Vikings resting everyone week 18 as we’d be locked into 3rd seed.
Colts game imo is going to be a lot harder than most think. They are coming off a bye, have a great rb and the D is top 10, 3rd vs pass. If they put Gilmore on JJ , which they will, it might be harder to win. Depends on if we get some guys back.

All of our kitchen utensils and dishware are Fiesta. IDK about the amazon reviews but for 5 years they’ve held their edge and cut precisely, maybe they’ll go to shit now though.
Could be you bought them before the quality went to shit. Most of the recent reviews are that the colorful handle snapped off quickly – one while cutting cheese.

Bacon wrapped pheasant and goose turned out great. The other guy who brought the meat is a Brady fan so currently Bucs fan. At least the food turned out good lol. Used mustard as a binder, and started with honey granules, then some of my mom’s Season Everything Shameless Plug: https://seasoneverything.online/ and then for some kick used some Nashville Hot Spiceology. Then of course Bacon wrapped. Smoked at 200 until the last half hour cranked to 250 to try and get the bacon more done. Really turned out good.

Idk why people are so shocked with this defense. They’ve been like this all season. They just mask it with alot of turnovers and clutch plays. It’ll take another 2-3 years for KOC and co. to get the right personnel in to play a 3-4.
With that said, they can still win games (i.e. we’ve won 10 and more to come). They can win playoff games too, but for that to happen:

My Alpine skis have been essentially retired but the Nordic skis appreciate the workout. I forgot how nice it is to get out on XC skis, especially after you’ve broken the trail.

I stuck within a mile of the shouse this weekend. Remember I am spoiling my queen as she recovers from surgery. I couldn’t waste the beautiful weather. Yesterday she walked with me out to the highway and back so is getting better.
Dog was pretty knackered after all that skiing. Dummy likes to run in front of me as I ski down slope, almost took him out a couple of times.

That’s our next adventure is getting some XC skis, or maybe just renting them at the golf course by our house, try them out once.
I think we’ll like it. We both like to go snow shoeing, so the XC skiing will be something we’ll like.
Definitely try them out for a weekend. You guys get enough snow there to make them worth your while. You’ll want to invest in an iron and wax…I wax mine after every couple of uses and it makes a big difference.

I drive past the Theodore Wirth golf course pretty much everyday, they’ve got it sent up for XC skiing now and it’s busy as heck everyday. Pretty much always have a couple school buses of kids there in the afternoon/evenings. Good workout too.

Also stop dropping Z smith into coverage, he sucks at it and looks like a hippo trying to catch a cheetah out there, these bullshit playcalls where Hunter or Smith drop into coverage are fooling NOBODY. The defense is predictable, gets no pass rush, and as such can stop no one.
