Vikings @ Lions
We knew going in that this was going to be a tough game. Going into Detroit and beating the Lions was going to require making minimal mistakes, and forcing the Lions to make mistakes. The Vikings did the opposite, and the result as is expected. The Vikings lost 23-34, and the defense looked as bad as they’ve looked all year, which is a bold statement considering how horrendous they’ve looked this year at times.
LOL, I’m sitting here writing this, & I ask my wife what she wants for Christmas. She said “a dutch oven”.
Anyway, the Viking defense was horrible yesterday. Kirk Cousins and JJ were on fire, but the defense couldn’t stop anything. The Vikings were outcoached in most facets of the game. The bright spot(s) from yesterday were Kirk Cousins and Justin Jefferson, those two were on fire all day. The rest of the team wasted a beautiful performance. The officiating was poor, but the Vikings lost the game. They just got beaten yesterday.
The Colts: Next Up
Time to dust off and get ready for the Colts, a home game with a Saturday kickoff, the first of two consecutive Saturday games for the Vikings. The loss didn’t surprise anyone, so learn from it and move on. They do need to do something about the defense, though.

I know you guys are jonesing for a MT style run on paragraph, plus it’s late in the central time zone. I read the discussion about Italians below.
So A is an Italian exchange student staying with my stepdaughter. My stepdaughter’s daughter is J…they are similar in age (A is a senior, J a junior). When A got off the plane in August from Italy, she was a tall slender girl. Was a standout for the varsity volleyball team (she played on a club in Italy). However, it was obvious as the season progressed that she was, ahem, getting swole, and it seemed to be more than just from lifting weights.
She is now one of the managers for the girl’s basketball team. J is a starter on varsity. First home game A is running late, my stepdaughter sees her flying out the door in a microscopic skin tight skirt that failed to cover her, um, behind. Uh oh. J calls her mom later, says the coach told J to tell A she needed to put something more modest on after they finished their walkthrough before frosh game. A thought this was baloney but changed at a friend’s house into a skin tight miniskirt. The coach told J to tell A to put on something more modest again, J’s mom told J to tell the coach to do it himself. He declined.
We’re at the game, A is running the camera (and doing a terrible job because she’s on her phone constantly), and I think oh my goodness she’s got the senior sixteen and then some going on.
Stepdaughter was with me in waiting room last week for Mrs. MT surgery. We were discussing this and that and I asked how the game footage for varsity basketball went (it sucked), and she relayed the above story. She shared that A asked her if she could get a gym membership, she said yeah go ahead but we have equipment here in the house and I’m not running you to the gym ten times a week. The reason she said she needed to go to the gym is because both she and the other Italian exchange student have noticed their clothes no longer fit. My stepdaughter nicely told her that the weight is not due to lack of activity, it is what is going in the mouth.
Apparently she is eating enormous amounts of food every day. She’ll destroy a bag of potato chips or half a cake.
Evidently part of Italians’ ability to stay slim includes less access to high caloric foods at their convenience. I imagine they do a lot of same day shopping for fresh ingredients and have no snack foods around the house.
I was going to comment on fives hogwash logic below that pizza is Italian, Italians are healthy, therefor pizza is healthy. Well for starters their pizza isn’t oil saturated cheese, processed meat filled garbage like american pizza and their bread isn’t cheap processed flour either. Also the rest of their diet as you pointed out above isnt access to the literal processed garbage we eat.
I chuckled when my stepdaughter said she had hid a bag of chocolate covered pretzels (one of her faves) behind the flour one day. Went to open it and have a couple for a snack two days later and found the empty bag in the trash. LOL.

Getting better day to day. We took a couple of walks out to main road today. She does a lot of laps in the shop while I sit at my workstation today. Pain is down to almost nothing.
They discontinued her hormone replacement therapy so she is having the hot flashes, which adds to her discomfort.
All in all, she is doing very well.

I get a ton of those everything from your package cannot be delivered, receipt for your apple Account purchase, and 1000 other scams to get your personal info.

Minneapolis people, trying to plan an enjoyable family weekend in Murderapolis around the weekend of round one of the playoffs. I’m thinking a water park hotel will be best. The last time I looked, the Great Wolf Lodge near the shitty Mall and the Venetian Water Park (Holiday Inn) in Maple Grove were the best. Are there others? Easy access to stadium, I assume Uber is the best?
I like the Hyatt or Garden Inn for the night before the game, but need to know the day of the game before I can plan for that.

I read they were trying to sign Dansby Swanson, all I remember of him is that he got selected first overall the year I watched the draft live for the first time.
Wouldn’t be a bad backup if they lose out on Correa but I’d be disappointed. I don’t think his contract year offense is projectable, and going from a slight hitter friendly park to a slight pitcher friendly park won’t help.
Right now it sounds like they are in heavy on Vazquez (C), and Correa. I think they also need to be in on Rodon to actually have an ace.
They need to invest in pitching, porstache guy is actually pretty good as #2, Gray is good when he isn’t hurt, which is about as often as when he is, Mahle and Paddock, lol great trades, the rest is poop sandwich.
Mahle sucked that he was hurt last year, but doesn’t seem like it will last. People would have hated how bad Rogers was last year anyway, though Pagan definitely sours that trade.
Should be a decent bullpen unless everyone good gets injured again. Rotation would benefit greatly from Rodon.
They were both damaged goods it would appear and it would seem as though that trainer guy was fired last offseason as result of them being cleared medically when they were not totally over their injuries.

Maybe, although I think this FO just isn’t all that concerned with prior injuries so they kind of threw the trainer under the bus. I think Paddack’s injury was just part of the price, not sure how much value Rogers really had. They definitely overvalue Pagan as a piece of that trade, though.
I still think Mahle will be really good outside of the little league park the Reds play in. Other than shoulder issues last season, he had one hamstring injury and that’s it for his major league career.

I wonder if there will be any long term health issues for Brendan Fraser having gained 300 lbs to play the fat guy in the movie “The Whale”. He’s being touted as the favorite to win Best Actor Oscar for his role in the movie but man, gaining 300 lbs and then trying to lose has to be rough on the body.
Did he do that just to play the role? I thought he had gained a bunch (not 300 tho) and then got the role.
I’m sure it’s been horrible for his body, and losing all that weight will probably suck too. Can’t imagine Christian Bale’s body appreciated going from an emaciated 110 lbs in 2004 for The Machinist to 190 of muscle for Batman in ’05.
From what I read he was wearing a 300 lb prosthetic suit. He’s gained weight obviously from his Link days on Encino Man. So saying he put on 3 bills just for the role is a stretch. Others have gained a significant amount – Stallone in ‘Cop Land’ put on like 75 lbs…

I see, I had just read something that said he gained 3 bills for the role, also on the other end of the spectrum is Christian Bale who got down to something like 120 lbs for his role in The Mechanic.
He may very well have – but that would put his current weight well north of 400. Looked big in the recent photos but not that big. And 18 months ago I too, was well north of 400 so I’ve got an idea what it looks like. I’m a few inches taller than him. Not saying it’s impossible, just feels improbable as he has to have been 175-200 around the time of George of the Jungle.

Fire Dumbatell, stick with 3-4, play Hunter at end with his hand in the ground where he belongs, move Z Smith around to blitz from different spots and stop dropping him into coverage, play Assmoar. Mix up coverage, don’t just play a shell zone every. single. play. Use Smith all over the field like Zim did, blitzing, dropping back in zone, playing in the box, etc.

I don’t pay attention to who owns whom, just which beers are good. Last beer I remember hearing about getting bought was ballast point, which reminds me, I haven’t had one of those in a while.
Well you got me back, I didn’t know about that. Sold for 1 billion in 2015, they also do Cutwater which is very hit-or-miss imo, then sold again in 2019 to some Chicago place.
I haven’t had it in a few years now, hopefully they didn’t fuck up the Sculpin.
I haven’t had one in a few years, used to have it all the time at that Mexican place in lowertown STP, I think called Barrio, they always had the regular IPA on tap and rotated the different flavored ones, my fave is the habenero IPA
I’m not much for pepper spice in beers, Grapefruit Sculpin is my favorite of those.
Victory at Sea is another good one I used to get in winter.
When I lived in Greeley there was a brewery that had a really good chili wheat, it mixed nicely with a seasonal apricot beer they made.

I was last in/around Denver in 2017 so that would be pretty close to when it opened then. Spent most of my brewery time in Denver at Dry Dock, buddy’s cousin worked there. Good beers.
Hit up Epic, Great Divide, 10 barrel and Black something or other before heading out to Avery.

Yeah, must have been Black Shirt. Was a very dark taproom as I remember, but decent beers.
Had to go Yeti at GD, not sure if they had it nitro but I definitely would have if it were an option.
Think I left with 3 bombers of Yeti variants too.

I suspect because its cheap and then they can say they have an IPA on tap…but it is pure crap.
