Only two more days until Vikings football! How’s everyone feeling about Saturday’s game? Part of me is concerned that the Vikings could have a let-down game after that emotional win on Saturday, similar to how they came out flat against Dallas after that amazing win against Buffalo. However, I don’t think that’ll happen this week. Maybe it’s just wishful thinking, but I don’t see them letting it happen twice, and I think the situations are much different. We’ll find out in two short days.

Been enjoying the desert. Went crane hunting last week, then finished up w/a couple days quail hunting. Went out with a friend who has a deer tag a couple days ago and finally got a round of golf in yesterday. Course was brutal and I was around 125 ugly. Really sore after not having done much for 10 months.
Sounds miserable around the midwest. Suppose to be in the 70’s here but is getting below freezing at night. It’s nice being able to get out and not be locked inside.

Not sure if he’ll make that, but yes, we’ll pay him, and we should. He’s BY FAR the MVP on the team. Kirk is relevant too, but JJ is more vital to the team’s success. In a perfect world, he and Kirk know they exist well together so they both play for less. That isn’t happening. It’ll be interesting to watch it play out. I think they’ll get it done sooner rather than later, but it’s hard to say with the new regime how they’ll handle it.

I’m heading home sooner than normal. They called school off today because of the cold (-50 wind chills), so I may go home to hang out with kiddo. We were going to head out for Billings in the morning, but we’ll see how the roads look. No travel advised at the moment. If the roads improve, we’ll be outta here by around 4 am, in Billings by 10.

Back when I had it, which was a decade ago, I got every game with it, along with replays & what-not. Pretty sweet deal. I just don’t need it now because we get 95% of Vikings games here. I am thinking of getting YouTudes TVs so that I can get the NFLN and ESPN games.

I’ve got a pair of Ringer Gloves and they are awesome. They are too warm to wear hunting if its above 0. Snowmobiling, four wheeling, etc when its cold out though they are the best gloves I’ve had.

Daughter is now in rehab. Getting better. Likely spending our Christmas in her room.

She is 22.
Totally crazy watching a healthy 22 year old young lady go on life support in 3 weeks time, not knowing what was going on.
So happy and thankful to hear she is getting better.
have you shared what happened? or maybe you aren’t, and if that’s the case, it’s all good you don’t have to.
just super thankful to hear things are on the mend, DE. so very thankful.
Her muscles in early October started hurting. It progressed to where she couldn’t get up off of the couch or get herself dressed. Spent 2 weeks trying to get her into an Endocrinologist and a Rheumatologist. Medical system is so effed up that we couldn’t get an appointment until after January. My wife started calling friends of friends of doctors. Finally got into both. Went to the ER 3 times in October. Rheumatologist finally speculated that it was dermatomyositis. A rare autoimmune disease. It takes weeks to get a formal diagnosis and then it takes weeks for any treatment to start working.
After starting on one autoimmune drug, she got sick and it became pneumonia. Hospitalized on Nov 9th. No local Rheumatologists so the Hospital consulted with UPenn. UPenn and Johns Hopkins both accepted her case, but had no beds. After 3 days, my wife and I thought we were watching her die. We got demanding and got her to a hospital near Wilmington, DE. They have a Rheumatology team. Got there on a Sunday. The next day she couldn’t breath, and they put her in ICU. On a ventilator. Rheumatologists started another drug and IVIG which helps put good antibodies back into her system that were removed from the autoimmune drugs.
The disease she has basically shut down her muscles, including her lungs (diaphragm) and esophagus. She still has a feeding tube because she still can’t swallow yet.
Today, she is now able to get out of bed with help, and is starting to walk and do things. Still no real answers on her ability to swallow. They think swallowing exercises will help. Not sure on that.
I’m thankful we are in a much better situation today then we were a couple of weeks ago. Still plenty of issues to overcome.
What a horrifying story…still sounds like a long road ahead.
Not necessary…but would you mind sharing her first name? I can and have prayed for DE Vikings daughter, but prefer praying for a 1st name..not necessary if not comfortable.

I spent Christmas Eve night and Christmas morning in my daughter’s room when she was 4 months old. She’d had cranial reconstruction surgery a couple days before and her face was swollen to the point that she could not open her eyes.
Very kind volunteers tiptoed through the children’s hospital and left little wrapped gifts at every occupied room.
My wife and I shared a bottle of wine from the only liquor store within walking distance (and it was PACKED on Christmas Eve after dark). The snow fell softly and we watched some movie (I don’t remember what).
On Christmas Day, while I was holding my daughter, she opened her eyes for the first time since the surgery and the first thing she did was smile at my wife and I – first smile since the surgery, too. That’s my favorite Christmas present all-time.

Gremlins is major fun IMHO, I´m watching it every year on Christmas at least once. Matrix is interesting to watch… it´s more than just a film for entertainment if one looks closely. Just like “They live” and many others.

I finally got dad’s home theater moved into the basement of mom’s new abode. I should fire up Die Hard and watch it on it.
Talking about chicken made me remember that we bought a pound of chicken jerky last weekend. Holy shit, that was good. I need to figure out how to make that stuff, because it was amazing. Getting another pound or 2 for the trip to Billings.
I am making lamb for Christmas because a friend gave some to my sister in law.
I’m making it in an oven.
Anyone work much with lamb? I have not cooked it before. I found a recipe on the Interwebs that is basic. I’m going with that for the time being.

Goes with garlic, make incisions and put the garlic piece in there. You CAN NOT overcook it, use a meat thermometer. slice against the grain (like the Alpha Big 5 does)
Yep, I am going with garlic and rosemary. Good tip on putting garlic in the incisions.
Lamb and garlic are a match made in heaven. Makes a huge difference in the flavor. Good luck. Lamb is underrated
