I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and were able to spend time with your families. I like to make sure to take time to think of our military men and women during the Christmas season, as there are many of them who were not able to be home with their families because they’re away from home protecting the freedoms we enjoy.
Christmas was a lot of fun in our home. Kiddo got the Moss jersey he wanted (he’ll grow into it, the only size I could find was an adult small), and I got a MASSIVE hug after he found out we were going to the round one Vikings playoff game. If voting for Dad of the Year were held today, I may have a shot.
Vikings vs. Giants
Another great win on Saturday brought the Vikings to 12-3 on this 2022-23 NFL season, and they’re sitting firmly as the #2 seed in the NFC playoff race, a game ahead of the 49ers with two games remaining. We expected a close game, and the Vikings didn’t disappoint. The Vikings kept it close, had a chance to put it away late, and allowed the Giants to tie it just before the clock ran out. However, they left too much time on the clock for Kirk Cousins, and he led the Vikings down the field into range for a LONG Greg Joseph field goal attempt. As we all expected, Joseph nailed the 61-yarder to win the game. Wow, what a finish, and what a great early Christmas present for Vikings fans.
The Vikings will travel to Green Bay on Sunday where they will try to knock the Packers out of the playoff hunt (please do this so that the talking heads have to shut up about the Packers being in it), then they finish the season in Chicago when they take on the Bears to end the regular season.
I’ve started looking ahead to the playoffs, since we do have tickets. If they follow a similar format as last year, the Vikings would likely play on Sunday if they’re the 2 or 3 seed. We’ll see, they could play on Saturday, Sunday, or Monday in the wild card round. We won’t know for sure until after the final game is played, but until then, we’re certainly free to speculate.

Yes, Hackett was very bad, and play design, play calling, and knowing how to take advantage of the team’s strengths are important and might help. I think Wilson has lost the locker room, though. Coming in with that arrogance, fan fare, and Hollywood elitist attitude; team mates will accept if the play is elite, not when QB is throwing multiple picks each game. Broncos fans think they’ll have a hard time getting a decent coach now because Broncos have chained themselves to Wilson for such a long time.

I think I read somewhere that the Refs do try to protect the star QB’s per NFL request.
“Tend”, meaning absolutely do on a consistent basis. They only call holding on them on rare occasions, usually on kickoffs and 1st downs or when the game is out of hand, so they can say “hey look, the box score shows we called them on it” even though those game situations don’t matter nearly as much.

We’ve been to the Great Wolf in Phoenix, and we were at this Minneapolis Great Wolf a decade or so ago, long before kiddo came along. I think that was when our daughter was only a year old.

I love that I can take the doggos for a walk at halftime, and when I get back 45 minutes later start catching up by zooming through commercials and dead air. That’s how it worked on Saturday, it initially looked like it was still recording the game (about three minutes ahead of the spot I had caught up to) as Joseph lined up to kick so I thought OT for sure.

We had a little milk crisis here in town, deliveries stopped from ND when the highway closed down. We got one of the last gallons of milk available couple of days before Christmas.

I bought myself a breadmaker early in December. Years ago we had one but it didn’t survive the move to Grand Forks as we were downsizing significantly. The flour in my “stash” had expired so I’ve been baking up a storm with it all month. I (the breadmaker machine actually) make a mean loaf of bread.

Well, since we’ve won almost every game by one score, I don’t see a margin of victory for either team more than one score. Packers aren’t significantly better or worse than we are. We are playing in Lambeau, never an easy W in the best of times. I think that’s a fair line.

To see the NFL bias against the Vikings in full view read these two NFL grade paragraphs for the Packers and then the Vikings. Here we have a garbage team who couldn’t score touchdowns was down 20 to 10 and if not for the oppositions quarterback falling completely apart throwing three picks would be out of the playoffs but they get a B+ grade. And then you have the 12-3 division winners and who by this description seem to have lucked into a win against the Giants. Fuckers.

The Packers defense might have just saved Green Bay’s season. After falling behind 20-10 in Miami, the Packers were able to claw their way back into this game, thanks to a defense that forced four turnovers on Miami’s final five possessions while also shutting out the Dolphins in the second half. Although the defense struggled at times to slow down the Dolphins’ speedy receivers, the unit did come up with three fourth-quarter interceptions that helped seal that game. Offensively, the Packers weren’t overly impressive, but Aaron Rodgers got them in scoring position often enough that Mason Crosby was able to hit four field goals. Matt LaFleur also coached this game like Green Bay’s season was on the line: The Packers went for it on five different fourth downs and converted three of those. The Packers’ playoff hopes were on life support going into Week 16, but now, they’re very much alive following this win.

Minnesota’s stars showed up big, with Justin Jefferson and T.J. Hockenson combining to catch 25 passes for 242 yards and three touchdowns. The Vikings also managed to somehow remain undefeated in one-score games, thanks to Greg Joseph’s 61-yard field goal as time expired. The defense did not put forth a particularly good performance, but that’s why you try to win all three phases of the game, I suppose.
I think kicking the FUCK out of the Pukes will be worth it.
