I hope you all had a great weekend. I sure did. Kiddo and I went to a hockey game on Saturday night. It was the first hockey game that either of us had attended. I haven’t ever even really watched an entire hockey game on TV, so this was a new thing for both of us. I’ll tell ya’, we had a really good time, even though we had no clue of the rules or all that jazz. It’s a really fast game, and fun to watch. We didn’t stay for the entire game, but we were still pretty tired from the Vikings game, and it was past our bedtime.
There was one thing I saw that cracked me up. This may be something that is common, but it made me laugh. 2 hockey dudes were fighting, trading blows, then 2 other referee dudes come skating in, then they each take one of the fighting hockey guys and give them a big hug & skate the 2 fighters away from each other, then after the hug, they go have a face-off thing & play again. Seriously. Fight, big hug for the 2 of them, then they get back to playing. Laughed my a** off.
Vikings vs. Colts
Wow, that game. One of the worst halves of football we’ve watched followed by one of the best halves (and an overtime) of football we’ve watched.
I’ve re-watched the game several times, as it seems I pick up something new or see something I had wrong every time I watch. One thing I had wrong was that I blamed Kirk for the first interception. Hat tip to Moljiner for pointing this out, but Reagor shuffled off of his route after Kirk released the ball, so that INT was also on Reagor, at least to some extent. Kirk still had a horrendous first half, but those interceptions were not on him. Also, he balled out in the second half to help the team secure that amazing comeback.
Another area where I was incorrect in my initial analysis was regarding the defense. The defense actually held their own yesterday. The defense really only gave up 19 points, as the other 17 was either special teams or points that the offense gifted to the Colts via interception or inherited field position.
In the end, it was an amazing win, an all-time record comeback, and more proof that this team is capable of anything (good and bad). Your Minnesota Vikings are now NFC North champs, sit at 11-3 and are currently the #2 seed in the NFC playoff race. Amazing. SKOL!!!!!!1

Looking at streaming services since the greedy bastards at the NFL make it impossible to watch games otherwise. Anyone have any suggestions? YouTube TV looks like the best option (has BSPN and NFL Network), although I dislike Google.
I love love love YT TV, I have the 4k option FWIW. The only thing that sucks is (you lucky bastards in ND) I’m in the nether regions between broadcast maps for the NFL and only get about half the games.

I’ve been a DirecTV customer since inception. Curious what will happen if they lose the ticket. If they do I’m launching them the next day. I have the premium package so I get all the regional sports which is a good service for college sports. I also get the premium movie channels HBO, Showtime etc…which use to be the bomb for movies but they suck now because they don’t have the contracts any longer for the newest movies now so they just run a limited catalog of old shit over and over. Complete waste. Boxing with HBO and showtime is ok but all the good fights are now PPV so that’s useless. Can’t wait to drop it all.

Serious question, Brad. At the end of the first half game thread, you said (essentially), you were done with Cousins forever. Don’t get me wrong, I understand the sentiment at that time, but how are you feeling about him now that that game is done and knowing the outcome?
He had a horrible first half, no doubt. Done forever? Nah. I was pissed, plus I’ve had a chance to re-watch a few times and I realize that the pick 6 is not on him, it’s on Reagor. He wasn’t THE problem in the first half, but he does put up too many stinker halves (and occasionally games) for my liking. Especially considering his high cap hit.
That being said, yes, I admit that I over-reacted. Not uncommon for a game thread, I suppose.
I get it. And I wasn’t calling you out. Just interested if the “full picture” had you feeling differently.
I’m torn on Kirk but lean a little more to the “homer” than “doomer” view on him. Frankly, I think the whole extremist response to him over the years is BS. The big difference between the two sides is one sees ONLY the negative while the other sees both, IMO. No one in their right mind thinks he’s earned his paycheck (yet) but the “homers” can objectively discuss the good/bad. Whereas the other side blames everything on Kirk, IMO.
That said, his last two games have been he most impressive back-to back efforts in his career. Far from perfect but he’s become(ing) clutch. He’s beaker no more.

I mean you play at home, ready to win the division and clinch a playoff spot, and then you let the fucking Colts roll over you, to the tune of 33-zip? Of course we all were royally pissed.
But nobody quit, IIRC. We all kept on watching the game, and we were rewarded with the greatest comeback win in league history. And Kirk was a vital part of that comeback.

Went down to my basement bar over the weekend for the first time in a few days, to check out my kegerator/tap lines and make sure I’ve got the right stuff to use the kegs I bought.
Apparently closing the vent in that area a couple weeks ago brought the temp down to ~47 degrees. Whoops!
You shouldn’t close vents, your HVAC system runs best with all the vents open, or at least partly open.
I opened it up a bit last night. Will check temps tonight.
I’m a little peeved, the current thermostat doesn’t have the ability to program. So sometimes I forget to change the setting and either the house is too warm all day or I’m freezing my butt off before I remember to increase the temp after I get home.
FYI a thermostat exchange is one of the easier DIY projects.

That’s how our (old farmhouse) is set up. Boiler system for heat, then have mini-splits on separate thermostats for cooling (or heat pump during mild (>20F) weather.
It does, but I think when I turn that on I set it about 73 or so.
I was just talking heat. When the heat is running it’s at 68. I don’t ever program or change it.
I keep our heat around 71 or 72, then the A/C about the same, maybe 70.
I have a Honeywell thermo upstairs and down that connects to the wifi. The lcd screen shows the outside inside temp, weather forecast for the day and I can alter the temp in either on my iPad. Bit of a game changer I love it.
I’m looking at either a honeywell like that or a smart thermostat. Would be very interesting to see how it tracks energy usage vs outside temp/my habits/other factors.
But do I want Google tracking me like that is the ultimate question…

Yeah, took time of clock with 3 and out and tied with couple mins left, i think. They crammed lots of scoring in a short time frame and long drives. No turnover gimmies.
FWIW…I NEVER would have sent that text until this season. There’s just something different about this team but still can’t figure them out.
In many ways, they’re rewriting Vikings history but too early to say whether they’ll finish what they started. In the meantime, it’s a lot of fun.

Within a month my face had wicked razor burn, folliculitis, etc. Took me a while to settle into my now lifelong routine, shave Sunday night and Thursday morning, definitely Sunday and Thursday, never on Saturday…or Wednesday, and slather my face with lotion afterwards…no stinkin’ after shave.
I have to shave daily, pretty much. Every now & then I skip a day, but not often.
I think it makes me look like I was up all night working, didn’t have time to shave. “Those gougers, work so hard.”
My facial hair grows very quickly and it’s dark so it shows up right away.

Bubba (I don’t think he looks like a Kane so I am teaching him a new name) clings to me like glue. He’s been a pretty good boy, all things considered. I’m glad he’s getting his nuts removed Wednesday, though, cuz he seems to mark somewhere in the shop once a day.
You should see him hit the snowdrifts. Like a battering ram. Tuck much more daintily slowly postholes his way through them, not Bubba, he disappears from sight and pops up ten feet away.

I wondered if that stop on fourth down with the Matt Ryan sneak was a make-up call. I thought they blew that one dead too early. Colts were still grinding forward.
I told my wife that the refs owed the Vikings. If a play is dead too early multiple times wiping multiple TDs off for one team, they’d better not “let ’em play” when the other team is trying a third push to convert a 4th down.

They need to do something about this standing up the runner, form a dogpile pushing the ball carrier this way and that. The ball disappears from view, the runner is held up by the bodies around him and not his own balance, someone needs to crash into the pile like a bowling ball.

Tough to think of a better Christmas present than a healthy family!
We adopted a chocolate Lab (two years old today) on Friday evening. His former family had to leave their rental and couldn’t find a place to let them keep their Choco and Golden. We kinda felt it was meant to be. Got the great news and later that day my wife saw a repost about the Golden on Bookface. Owner wanted us to keep the doggo family intact but no way we could have three high energy dogs. Found out she had a choco and no one was expressing interest in him, my wife knows I have had my heart set on another for a long time, so she let me have my wish. Seemed like it was all planned out in advance as the owner was coming to Glendive from Havre for her kids’ basketball games, and the Golden got adopted to another household with a Golden. First night he whined and barked in his kennel all night I had to put the e-collar on him, Saturday he seemed super anxious and was tough to break to heel on the lead, but I put a bark collar on him Saturday night he went straight to sleep not a peep. Now he clings to me and listens to every command I say, got a chocolate Lab rug on my feet.
Unfortunately he is intact and had no vaccinations, but is a surprisingly healthy dog and well socialized.
The previous owner has texted multiple times, she is so very grateful we gave him a new life, as we are grateful the surgery gave us a new life.

I still advocate that they fine refs that make such bad calls. They fine the players for all kinds of nonsense, the refs need to be made accountable also.
Just watched the condensed version again, refs were ATROCIOUS. Might have been a make up call that they ruled Ryan short on that QB sneak, but the zebras had so much to make up for that it really isn´t worth bitching about. Vikes would have most likely won the game in regulation if the refs don´t take 2 TDs off the board.
We have so many trees hanging over the road because of the heavy snow that the township guy just came by with a brush hog on a big arm on a tractor and he is chewing up the branches.

I plan to get to that point, hopefully soon. I don’t know, I’ve learned to enjoy the winter a little bit, too. Especially with kiddo, he likes sledding & stuff (so do I).
Yes, but about a month of that is enough…most folks I know leave in early January and come back in early May…still can get some sledding in and have a white Christmas. But lets be honest…January through March SUCKS….
We’ve found trips to warmer climates in February or March to be helpful.

My son and his wife are looking at houses to rent. One that they looked at, the owners nephew showed them the house. The owner also owns several hundred more properties and while his nephew and others manage the properties he winters in Costa Rica. His nephew said he will be back in April. I maybe need to brush up on my Spanish.
We are gearing up for Snowmaggedon 2: Snowmaggedonner. Thursday and Friday could be messy with 50 mph winds after a fresh snow Wednesday.
It’s practically spring like temps out there the next five days.
Gotta feel for Bubba’s nuts (soon to be RIP), they get frostbit in the cold temps and snow, bright red when we get back from a walk.
Around here the next week it is barely going to peak above 0 degrees Fahrenheit.
I suck at reposting such things but our daytime highs are hovering around -10 or so Tuesday-Thursday.
High of 1 on Thursday here, but we get to a balmy 10 degrees for Christmas!
-15 for a high on Wednesday and 45 by Sunday.
