Wow, the team decided to make a major splash prior to the trade deadline yesterday, as they went out and obtained one of the better tight ends in the league from a division rival. The Vikings pulled off a trade with the Lions yesterday, a trade that shipped off a 2023 second-round pick and a 2024 fourth-round pick in exchange for TE T.J. Hockenson, a 2023 fourth-round pick, and a 2024 fourth-round pick. Basically, we move back a couple rounds in 2023 in order to obtain a top tight end.
I think the Vikings front office did a magnificent job of filling a need, and improving the offense without causing any future damage to the cap. The Vikings will take a cap hit of a little over a half million dollars for 2022. Hockenson is due a bit over $9 million next year (5th year option of his rookie deal), but I forsee the Vikings and Hockenson signing an extension before next year. It’s nice to see that the front office taking steps to improve the team when in a great position at 6-1, they aren’t content to just stand pat. Great work by our young GM. SKOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

I hate hornets, I want them all to die.
As a kid, I shot a hornet nest at the peak of a granary. So it was about 30 feet up. I was probably 30 feet from the building. A hornet came out, hovered for about two seconds and then went straight at me and stung me in the neck.
It was amazing how quickly it identified me as the threat and got me.
This summer I mowed over a ground nest in my yard, I was then attacked by the entire hive and went into anaphylactic shock. It sucked and hornets can go to hell. Good shot though, I hope you killed some of those bastards.

Fed dollars for research should be very limited but used as is best for said research. No federal student loans for anyone.

No, Lutheran actually. I am so thankful I don’t have the shackles of religion anymore. Had a good friend that came back from freshman year of college in Boston while I was at my Christian college. He and I went to church, played in our church’s band all through high school etc… He comes back and is doubting things and I am up in arms about this. I decide I can prove him wrong and start digging into shit myself… You start digging for shit and actual truth and not just an echo chamber for what you were raised in… You either stop because what you are finding out scares you too much to admit what you are finding out… or you end up some kind of at least agnostic (which I think is Athiest by definition). I think 99.9% of people are Athiest and that .1% are true nut jobs.

I have a relative by marriage (not blood) that’s one of those women who constantly gets injections and other stuff done to her face. She used to be attractive, but now she looks like one of those clowns that give you nightmares. You’d think a true friend would pull her aside and tell her the truth.

My personal experience in Edmonton growth (Edmonton is the only city I have ever lived in with a population greater than 500,000) is leaving Edmonton in ’76 for my dad’s 4 year posting in West Germany. At that time our house was on the very western edge of the city (I mean there were no houses on the western side of the street) and you could see the field that became West Edmonton Mall from our back yard. The city population was about 200,000. When we returned the population was about 400,000 and the west end had moved about 20 blocks further out, and WEM was just starting to break ground. Oil was king.
Last time I looked, that neighborhood (Thorncliff) is well inside the ring road and about two miles from the outskirts. However, I have not been in Edmonton since 2000.
I first drove through in 1976, and there were no freeways, just one long stop and go thoroughfare. Now it’s chuck full of freeways and a guy has no idea where the downtown is if he’s just driving through.

Something similar actually happened to my sister during a dance contest, although her skirt didn’t come all the way off like that. They were doing one of those moves where she was being spun on the floor, but when her partner was helping her up, he stepped on her skirt. It just pulled her skirt down a bit, but she got embarrassed and after pulling her skirt up, left the dance floor. I told her she should have just kept dancing. Leaving the floor made it a bigger deal than it actually was.

A few years ago the water line to my parents’ fridge popped off, flooded 4 rooms – the cleanup service was working for several months, pulling carpet, cutting out drywall 3 feet up the walls, running dehumidifiers 24/7. I would like to keep the thumbs down even though I’ve maybe only used it once or twice. Too many sites are taking the option away because someone may have their feelings hurt. But I do like the option of being able to see who gave the thumbs down. I believe over on the DN their is a way that you can see who approved your post, so it might be something that the developers can create for here. If I remember correctly, the only person that can see the “rec” on the DN is the person that posted the comment.

The league decides if they are likely or not before the season. If they are likely, they count this year and will be refunded next year if not met. If deemed unlikely and they are reached, then they will count next year.
