Hey, a solid win by the Vikings yesterday. Was it perfect? Far from it. However, the Vikings took the lead on the first series, and they held it for a vast majority of the game.
Defense/Special Teams
The defense looked stout in the first half, with the exception of the Cardinals’ final drive, but then faltered in the third quarter before settling in again at the end and doing enough to get the save. The defense came up with some crucial turnovers to help keep the Vikings in control of this game. The special teams unit also came up with a fumble recovery in the fourth quarter. I really have no words about Greg Joseph. It isn’t the filed goals so much, as the dude has been money from inside the 50. All of his misses this year have been from beyond 50, but even then, you should make more than one out of it happens to be an extra point, then he turns into 2016 Blair Walsh.
Offense
On offense, the running game ruled the day, as Dalvin Cook ran wild the entire game, and Mattison was a solid platoon back. Heck, Cousins even got in on the running action, as he contributed a 20 yard TD run of his own on the opening drive. The passing offense, most notably Kirk Cousins, struggled at times. Cousins missed some wide open receivers on several plays (you never know, these may have been on the receiver as well, as we don’t know the plays and reads of each individual play), but in the end, they got enough going to help the team get the win.
Summary
In previous games, I’ve said that an ugly win is better than a pretty loss, and that’s true. I wouldn’t classify yesterday’s win as “ugly”, but it wasn’t beautiful, either. Who cares? In the end, the Minnesota Vikings are 6-1 and sit alone up at the top of the NFC North. Enjoy this win, enjoy the team being 6-1, and let’s hope they can keep winning games, because this is fun. We usually get over 250 trick or treaters, it was down a bit this year, bummer.
I quit a couple years ago after getting like 2 or 3 trick or treaters 5 years in a row.
I quit when teenagers started showing up with no costumes and demanding treats or they would come back and ‘trick’ (aka trash the yard).
Had a group of kids walk up – all teens, no costumes. Other parents and youngsters around and these kids walk up with pillowcases and hold them out and say nothing – we’re hanging on the porch, wife is next to me and before she can reach the bowl to pass out candy I say ‘Grow up and get the fuck outta here’ Then I hear ‘What did you say to my kid?!?’ from a voice in the back. Before I can retort I hear another parent say ‘he said ‘get the fuck outta here!’ and you should be embarrassed to have your kid out here – he’s old enough to drive!’ Literally almost pissed myself laughing….
Our neighborhood is really popular for trick or treating. We enjoy it, it’s fun seeing all the kiddos.
All the kids around here go to school parties now

One third of the way through the season grading out as a damn good team. Cousins top 10 (as I’ve said) Darrisaw continues to be a beast. We got lucky we nabbed such a solid player. Peterson may be the most shocking grade of all. What a rebound of a season.

Just the yearly hijacking of a religious holiday by a bunch of devil worshipers.
It’s kind of funny because some religious people get very bent out of shape about Halloween. However when I was a kid, it was no big deal. It was just a fun time for kids to dress up and get candy.
Yeah I came from a simpler time when there was none of that baloney going on.
I think I just sinned. Several people told me to go down to the cafeteria and get my free burger…free for all employees…I grabbed my booger and the gal at the cash register asked my employee ID#…I don’t think I have one…she said I’ll just use mine.
I thought you were going end it by saying something like you ended up marrying the gal at the cash register……

Funny you mention that…VP discussed selling old books last week and I was reminiscing on some humorous illustrated book about the “Real guide to getting into medical school or some such”. There was a chapter entitled “How to Meet and Marry an MD” and had the old saws of the drastically altered nursing uniform (for a female nurse and male MD in a traditional binary relationship). One of the tongue in cheek recommendations was to get a job in the cafeteria at a teaching hospital, with the illustration showing the cashier ringing up a bill of 25 cents on a meal for the hapless resident who is digging in his pockets for change. As with many things in that book there were a lot that were crudely stated but had a fair amount of truth in them. That would be one.
