My daughter is 22. Just graduated college and got her first job as a kindergarten teacher in August. DII college athlete.
About 2 months ago she was feeling fatigued with muscle weakness.
It progressively got worse. In and out of hospital a few times.
She has been diagnosed with a rare autoimmune disease.
She lost muscle function in her throat. Can’t swallow. Ended up aspirating and getting pneumonia. Rushed to ICU from regular hospital.
She has been on a ventilator and a feeding tube the last 10 days.
We we’re in a smaller hospital to start, trying to get transported to Johns Hopkins or UPenn who specialize in this rare condition. They accepted her case, but had no hospital beds. We shipped her to a good hospital near Wilmington. They do have a good Rheumatologist that we all like.
She has been slowly getting better, but is still in ICU. She has been on heavy immunology drugs the last 2 weeks. These can take weeks or months to work. So she is starting to get better, but it’s a long road to recovery.

My sister (the one that was in the car accident) has Lupus, an auto immune disease. Doctors are familiar with it now, but when she first got it (a long time ago), that wasn’t the case. She went through lots of doctors and various places, including the Mayo Clinic, who finally diagnosed it.
We were thinking a form of Lupus as well, but it’s even rarer than that.
Dermatomyositis is what she has.
Sorry DE that is a tough row to hoe watching your child battle a severe condition. Too many in my family, sister and mom, died of different conditions, Hodgkin’s and leukemia. Both conditions now fairly curable but not when they were sick. Hang in there. Sounds like hopefully they’ll get this figured out for her.

I know it’s not the same as Lupus, but if it’s any comfort to you, my sister has had it for decades and had a long/productive life, even successfully recovering from mechanical heart valve surgery (not caused by the Lupus) and of course the brain surgery. She does have to see her Rheumatologist regularly because dosages, and even medications have to change over time.
Best wishes to her and you pal. Hang in there.

I agree, I keep saying this to friends as well. That, yes the line played like shit but Kirk could have done some things to help. It’s the issue that we have always knew Kirk had. Man, I played quarterback when I played ball, and you sure as hell knew where the hot read was for when protection inevitably broke down. Better to get 2 yards than to lose 10, especially on first or 2nd down. On 3rd, I can understand holding on & trying to get the first, but on first or second, you have to get rid of the ball.

Boys are the team in NFC I think. When they don’t make Dak the center of attention, they’re good. Pollard is good. Defesne is elite. I was really impressed by them.

Not really sure what it is, but my gut says they’re a mirage. Tua has been good, but it seems like most of their yardage comes on wide-ass open schemed plays or a breakdown where Tyreek runs himself open. I dunno that I see that being effective forever.
