The first thread filled up, so here’s another.
LOL. Wow, that game. Leave it to the Vikings to make you feel negative after a win. I’m not. 2-1 is better than 1-2, a win is a win, and if this team can get some things in order, they can still make some noise. THAT BEING SAID, let’s talk about our concerns regarding this team.
I’m a fan of looking back on things to see what you did right, wrong, and to find other lessons to learn. In the army, we called it an after-action review. It’s used in business a lot as well, and I’m guessing most of us do something like this. Let’s look back on the game.
What we did right:
The rushing game was working when we used it, Cook was running very well and the O-line was opening up running lanes. The O-line also had a good game against a revamped Lions pass rush that is pretty damn good, they gave Cousins enough time all night and the running backs had huge holes in which to run. The defense, after a horrendous first quarter, got it figured out toward the end and held strong when they needed to, and they got the save as they helped the team to secure the W. Cousins hit a few solid throws, but man, he had that Beavis face and he was playing tight the whole game.
Areas of Concern:
Defense: The defense in the first half was atrocious. Our pass coverage is laughable, it seems like receivers have 5 yard cushions around them where no defender is allowed. The run defense is pourous, and it seems like opposing runners have a 5 yard buffer zone and we aren’t allowed to touch them until they hit that 5 yard mark. Wow. It’s bad. Teams don’t even think about punting against us anymore. Why would you? You’re pretty much guaranteed 5 yards, so if you have fewer than that to go, there is absolutely no reason to punt against this defense when they’re playing like they were in the first half.
Offense: Cousins was off for most of the game. He had that Beavis face that he gets when he’s in spaz mode, and he had that face on all game yesterday. His accuracy was way off, he was indecisive, and his great throws were too infrequent. He finally started finding other receivers after the Lions threw everything they had at stopping JJ. We finally saw Adam Thielen in this game, and then KJ Osbourne made an appearance at the end to come in and save the day.

Love a good IPA, but this time of year I love Festbeers, Marzens, Dunkels etc… If you can combine them and do a Red IPA or Brown IPA, get the malt to balance the hops/bitter. Yum. Most these folks shitting on IPAs think Bud Light is beer… it’s not. It’s beer flavored rice soda.

They were drinking a metric tonne of Hofbrau Munchen Oktoberfest. I mean it was insane. I had three pints Friday and three pints Saturday, slept like a baby both nights. But there were people there putting it away like nobody’s business.
I also wore a helmet with horns Friday night. It was heavy and hard on my pencil neck.
One of my sonographers was in the (what we call in canada boat races) drinking relay. I imagine she felt poorly the next day. Another sonographer’s husband was in them as well and barfed IN the pickup on the way home as well as all over the kitchen sink and counter. I think someone must have slipped a little IPA piss into his wholesome Hofbrau.

When I was seven we moved into a little village in Baden-Wurttemberg (Plittersdorf FWIW). We rented the top floor of a home. The owners lived downstairs and their kid and I went to the Oktoberfest tent. There we were given small glasses of beer to enjoy. LOL.
We went to a few small town Oktoberfests over there a few years back….Men, Women, and Children of all ages absolutely tanked…but all having a great time.

Last week I had mentioned that the ex was force breaking to lead rope the colt Ruger. Turns out the granddaughter tried (unsuccessfully) to hide the halter. Haha gotta love them when they’re young and sensitive. Before long she’ll be a teenager and communicate with grunts with her smart phone plastered in her face.
Oh and it was hilarious as my stepson and I pulled in the yard he decided we should grab another fencepost in case we couldn’t get one of the cornerstone posts pulled. I reached under the pile of posts to dislodge one and a six foot long snake shot out. As long as it was heading away from me I didn’t care what it was (it was a bull snake, though). My stepson who positively hates snakes screamed at a decibel level above what a man should be able to generate and fell over backwards he jumped back so fast. Heaven help me I laughed so hard.

I am an idiot with snakes because they are not part of the natural order of things here, but I learned a bit.
I was in California walking along a beach trail with some dry brush around it. These little geckos were occasionally running around, which fascinated me because I like little lizards and don’t have them around here in MN.
I heard some brush move and thought, all right! Another little lizard!
I go in for a closer look and it was a big fat rattlesnake that started rattling at me.

Like I said, as long as they’re slithering away from me I don’t pay them much mind. I never know them to hang around very long. Skunks are active right now so I got the big gun on my shoulder on walks (a Ruger 10/22 ha).
I’ve fired more rounds through a Ruger 10/22 than anything. They are plinking machines.
As far as I’m concerned if/after the fall the .22 LR becomes the ammo of choice. I have brick after brick of that stuff. Bigger calibers are for big game and two legged predators. But rabbits and squirrels will keep meat on the table.
