I hope you all had a great weekend. I sure did. Kiddo and I went to a hockey game on Saturday night. It was the first hockey game that either of us had attended. I haven’t ever even really watched an entire hockey game on TV, so this was a new thing for both of us. I’ll tell ya’, we had a really good time, even though we had no clue of the rules or all that jazz. It’s a really fast game, and fun to watch. We didn’t stay for the entire game, but we were still pretty tired from the Vikings game, and it was past our bedtime.
There was one thing I saw that cracked me up. This may be something that is common, but it made me laugh. 2 hockey dudes were fighting, trading blows, then 2 other referee dudes come skating in, then they each take one of the fighting hockey guys and give them a big hug & skate the 2 fighters away from each other, then after the hug, they go have a face-off thing & play again. Seriously. Fight, big hug for the 2 of them, then they get back to playing. Laughed my a** off.
Vikings vs. Colts
Wow, that game. One of the worst halves of football we’ve watched followed by one of the best halves (and an overtime) of football we’ve watched.
I’ve re-watched the game several times, as it seems I pick up something new or see something I had wrong every time I watch. One thing I had wrong was that I blamed Kirk for the first interception. Hat tip to Moljiner for pointing this out, but Reagor shuffled off of his route after Kirk released the ball, so that INT was also on Reagor, at least to some extent. Kirk still had a horrendous first half, but those interceptions were not on him. Also, he balled out in the second half to help the team secure that amazing comeback.
Another area where I was incorrect in my initial analysis was regarding the defense. The defense actually held their own yesterday. The defense really only gave up 19 points, as the other 17 was either special teams or points that the offense gifted to the Colts via interception or inherited field position.
In the end, it was an amazing win, an all-time record comeback, and more proof that this team is capable of anything (good and bad). Your Minnesota Vikings are now NFC North champs, sit at 11-3 and are currently the #2 seed in the NFC playoff race. Amazing. SKOL!!!!!!1

Video of the Day:
It is my pleasure to carry on our traditional playing of the Minnesota Vikings fight song the day after a win (although it’s 2 days after a win today) for the eleventh time this year. STRIKE UP THE BAND!!!!!!!!
It’s my oldest’s 17th birthday today. I can’t believe he’s already nearly a legal adult. It’s bizarre.

Peter King writing
“The Tra Blake crew in Colts-Vikings made several egregious calls, none worse than not allowing a Vikings touchdown on a return by defensive back Chandon Sullivan. The crew claimed the play was whistled dead and so Sullivan couldn’t return it. Watching the play in real time, that’s a laughable call. There was a call earlier negating another Sullivan fumble return for a touchdown, and another phantom facemask call against the Vikings…..it was a terribly officiated game”
All of this is spot-on. It’s amazing that the Vikings were able to pull off the comeback, despite playing against the refs. A couple really bad calls the other way, too, but not nearly as significant as these missed calls.
New thread
I think GF just waits for you to show up and post something to post a second thread.
I don’t want to talk. As soon as I do, part 2 will happen. My comments will be but vapor.
They will be as vapor, not butt vapor you bunch of degenerates.
You just need to hurry up and say something funny, and it will be immortalized in the daily summary.
“butt vapor”
Ha! Ha! most of the comments here are ‘butt vapor’
Truth.
Asamoah getting snaps, wonder if he gets a start?
He’ll replace Hicks or Kendricks next season
He was in for Hicks during his 23 snaps on defense Saturday. So if he were to start–I think it would be Hicks.
White hats too?
That was a rumor, I hope so tha’d be sweet!
LOL
Pick ‘im up!
Anyone know the NFL record for a RG stepping on qb’s foot?
Ingram has to have it at this point
What’s amazing is Randal McDaniel had the most unorthodox stance in history and never stepped on his QBs or LT’s foot.
Randal McDaniel….that was a STUD!
Then he retired and taught 3rd grade to try to make a difference in kid’s lives…awesome human being.
Funny story about Randall McDaniel. Superstar Mike Morris was goofing around punting footballs at practice. He shanked one and it ended up hitting McDaniel in the head who was looking the other way. McDaniel calmly walks over to Morris–sits him down in a chair–and dumps a cup of hot coffee on Morris’ lap.
Now we’re even.
I remember listening to an interview with him where he’d say if he was at a like a football camp as the guest of honor he’d have to tell kids, “Don’t do what I do” lol. But at least he is on the left side of the QB that’s the correct leg that should go back in pass sets.
He was the honorary coach at the all-state game the year I played in it. Can confirm, he did not recommend his stance be used.
What’s really odd is he is on the right side of the line. His kick step/stab step, whatever you want to call it SHOULD be his right leg otherwise he’s just opening up the gate for the defender. Makes no sense that his left left should EVER go backwards on the start of any play, pass set or run blocking.
I’m sure they address it, maybe plant left foot out further before snap. Prob to simplistic.
The real question from the weekend…. who the hell starts Andy Dalton over Tua in FF?
DE had in the bag
Like see JJ break Calvin Johnsons record with 2,000 yds. Don’t want him to get the shit kicked out him tho.
He’s got 2 games to do it (not likely, imo), otherwise all the internet prognosticators will put a big ol’ asterisks by it.
True. The dreaded asterisk.
The *aints know a thing or two about the asterisk…
I don’t know how likely that will be. The Vikings next two opponents are giving up 217 and 193 passing ypg, while both give up 150+ on the ground. It would appear the Vikings best chances of winning both would be to focus on the run game. And yes, if he doesn’t do it in 16 games it really is not the same as Calvin’s record.
How cold is too cold for a plane to take off? Taking off Saturday at noon (gonna miss the game sadly) but it’s supposed to be -5 with a wind chill of -32 around takeoff time…
Unless you’re flying in a prop plane, I don’t think that will be an issue.
Thank goodness. It’s a jet. Have tickets for Penn and Teller which is actually going to be Penn and Carbonaro Saturday as well lol.
Colder than that at altitude.
I know but taking off is a whole different ballgame I would assume. Probably assuming wrong.
Yup. I’ve seen a few CF-104s and CF-18s take off in 40 below. The engines just need extra time to warm up the oil, need to be run up before the takeoff run to ensure any ice buildup in the engines after deicing breaks off the cowling and blades. The higher air density makes the takeoff easier, actually.
Have you seen “The Day After Tomorrow” when the helicopter gas freezes in the fuel lines? I think you’re gonna be looking at something similar……
Haha, well if you don’t ever hear from me again after this week blame the bad juju Hurricane brought my way haha.
Lmao.
Well that would be Wednesday, he’s taking off Saturday so he needs to see 4 days after tomorrow
Monday Ben killing it today….
Hypothetical question:
Are you more likely to pay for a hooker that cleans?
Or a maid that fucks?
Maid that fucks since she’s not a hooker.
Duh.
Agreed.
But a Hooker is supposed to fuck you and leave (that’s what you pay for) cleaning is just a show of kindness whereas a maid who fucks after getting payed to clean is loose and dirty and obviously horny. That makes her not a whore but a slut and the actual whore really does have a heart of gold.
I’d do both and have them both clean after so they’re both gone sooner.
Spoken like a true whore.
Speaking of whores…hi, mom.
LOL
You guys are sick…
Ok. Just don’t marry either one.
This does make sense, kinda
You pay the hooker….Seinfeld taught us that.
Yes
Best off hiring them both IMO
Would you rather pay for a Shirt that’s purple or a Purple piece of clothing that’s a shirt?
Spent all my money on the maid….
DVOA and other football analytics as well as PFF are overblown overrated tools, much like Chris Collinsworth and Joe Buck.
I’d believe that was their rating for the first half, not the whole game tho
DVOA doesn’t make sense to me, so the Browns had one of the best performances despite scoring only 13 points against a bad Ravens offense without Lemar?
Yeah i didn’t get that either. Watson is horrible
In some part that’s probably from how they adjust for opponents. Even without Lamar, Indy is a far worse team.
What does indy have to do with Cleveland scoring 13 points?
Vikings playing bad against a bad team is worse than playing bad against a good team.
I don’t know how it works, and I’m not defending it, but what little I understand says the Browns start at a higher floor playing the Ravens than the Vikings do playing the Colts.
What do the Vikings have to do with Cleveland scoring 13 points?
Not be the Vikings. They are handicapped before the game because of historical bias. “Analysts” decided a long time ago that the Browns are better because they traded for hand job McGee.
An even better question would be how our guard scored 13 points?
DVOA is a fun metric (not really fun at all, feels nerdy and boring) to use to explain trends, stats or blah blah blah. Whatever. Sometimes the explanation is: The game was 4 quarters and then longer and everyone kept playing thru the whistle. Ebbs and flows. Big plays. Bad calls. Lucky breaks. And at the end we had more fuckin’ points than they did. Ballgame. Let’s Go Crazy plays. And we do it again next week. No time for the idea that it’s all preordained, rigged, paid for and the outcome was decided before the first bag of popcorn was bought. Some weeks the task is tall and seems insurmountable. Until it’s the 4th quarter with ball in our hands and we’ve got a shot. DVOA is just a metric, I refuse to believe it means dick in regard to what will be. If you believed that why the fuck would you ever watch the game?
Yeah, I don’t care all that much for it or PFF. I tend to trust my eyeballs more than anything else, which tell me the Vikings are slightly above average team that seems to excel most in critical moments.
Well said.
DVOA has successfully predicted several surprise teams (both good and bad) in many recent seasons. It certainly has its flaws, I’ll admit.
At this point though, I have to wonder if the Vikings have found a way to win consistently without being efficient. Have the found a sustainable way to execute low-probability/high-leverage plays?
Imagine how good they would be if they didn’t play like monkey shit for half of every game. If they can start putting together complete games, there isn’t a team they can’t beat. They can, and with Vikings history likely will, get blown out by anybody in the playoffs too.
I definitely think that’s the rub with this team and analytics.
Naw we’re winning round 1
The Vikings are not super efficient on offense, at least not consistently, but they are explosive, DVOA seems to not value that, which doesn’t really make sense to me.
Yep. They’re explosive
Yeah that’s a good question. Even the more basic analytics, like W/L record in 1-score games, think this isn’t close to sustainable. Which is fair, I mean just watch this team meltdown for 2 quarters every week and you’ll think that.
But it does feel like they have something, some je ne sais quoi, that allows them to win in those otherwise coin flip situations.
DVOA is an art not a science.
Not ‘Prove-able’ a lot like Psychology.
So I get how the Vikings could be crap for going down 33-0. But how the hell are the colts not ranked in the bottom 5 for going 3-39?
Rams prime time access is annoying. I know they won the SB but geez…
The Vikings (11-3) are currently the 2 seed, but the 49ers are a huge threat to take that away at 10-4. The 49ers have a better conference record, so the Vikings need to maintain that one game lead.
Vikings host the Giants, then go to Green Bay and to Chicago.
The Giants are a little better (per DVOA), but the game is in Minnesota. Hoping for a win.
Green Bay is better, but may be eliminated by then. Hopefully Love will play at QB.
(Green Bay is hosting the Rams tonight and at Miami next week)
The Bears are the only remaining opponent who is worse than Minnesota, but playing in Chicago in January is tough. It would be really nice to rest players, but only if the game is meaningless.
The only ways for the Bears game to not matter is if the Vikings win the next 2 and the 49ers lose a game before then, or if the 49ers lose both of the next 2 games (highly unlikely IMO).
The 49ers host the pronouns next week, then go to Vegas for the Raiders, then host the Cardinals.
Pronouns have a chance. I wish the game were in Washington, though.
Raiders have a chance, but not a huge one.
Cardinals are toast, but it doesn’t matter when talking about whether the Vikings can rest in week 18.
As far as the WC round–being #2 or #3 really doesn’t matter though. You’re gonna get either the Giants or the WFT. Not a huge delta between those two. It’s the next round where being a #2 vs #3 likely means something.
Most likely looking at SF in the divisional round, would be much better to play them at home.
I’ll play anyone at home. Including Dallas. 37 point beat down aside, I still like our chances against them at home.
I agree. Divisional round gets trickier as the 3.
In most scenarios I’m expecting wins for seeds 2, 3, & 5 wild card weekend, so in the divisional round the 1 seed would host the 5, and the 2 seed would host the 3. We’d much rather have the 9ers in Minnesota than fly to San Fran, right? Although it may not matter.
Dream scenario is that Vikings get the 2 seed, the 4 seed uses home field advantage to knock off the 5, and the 9ers get inexplicably bounced by the 6 seed.
Then Vikings get to host the winner of the NFC South while the Eagles have to contend with the 6 seed – and again, big hope – that 6 seed pulls off the upset in Philly.
Easiest path to the SB for the Vikings (as 2 seed) is:
host 7 seed
host 4 seed
host 6 seed
Very unlikely, though
Right, so my point was one week at a time. Win in the WC round first and foremost.
Yep. Means shit if we don’t get a dub, regardless of seed.
Yup. I know all the East teams are currently seeded, but seems like our WC foe could be the Lions or the Seahawks. I feel like I’d rather host the Giants or Pronouns.
My preference would be to play the Giants or Kitties in the first round.
My scenario is this:
Vikes nab two seed. Cowpies will be 5th seed and they’ll get a date with Philly
round 2: Vikes vs niners in Minny
round 2: Eagles host Dallas
Dallas upsets eagles, we win too and then get to host the NFCChamp
This except with SF losing WC weekend.
Cowpies are going to round 2 and it will like be against eagles. NFCS sucks
Then just gotta hope Cowpies knock them out and then Minny has a shot to host NFCChamp as 2 seed if we win
Ah yes, because things went so swimmingly the last time the Vikings hosted Dallas.
2 seed is huge. Means hosting Niners in minny or going to SF.
Worrying about that is counting your eggs before they hatch though. Both us and SF would need to win their WC round games for that to happen….
I know. Just talking scearios
But the 2 seed is important and if that means trying for it in week 18 you have to do it
Agreed. We need as many home games as possible.
Yes. My hope is we have nothing to play for in that one though. Good or bad.
TL;DR – 49ers likely win out, requiring the Vikings to win out to keep the 2 seed.
I think Vikes will have to try in week 18 for some reason
The Soldier Field game is the only one I’d worry about not winning for us…..
GF, Just read the words up top.
I was the one who pointed out that Raegor moved on the pick 6, and I demand my credit!!!
I saw this as well. Mentioned it below
29 years ago today…
Vikes beat the Packers 21-17 in Milwaukee behind 3 Jim McMahon TD passes, 2 to Cris Carter.

What’s a dick? Is that one of those kitchen tools my wife has in the drawer under the cutting board? There are like 200 different slicer and dicer doodads in there, I have no idea what they are all used for.
Its the one she keeps in a mason jar under the sink
So most of that site is just guidelines……but that is a rule.
Uh…. Just read the top. Appreciate the shout out, but that wasn’t me that shed light on the 1st interception and who was responsible. Admittedly, I smoke a lot of dope and have been hit in the head a lot so it’s possible I’m not remembering. But pretty sure that was someone else. IIRC there were Twitter feeds used and I don’t do that. I’ll check a source or two here and there before posting (and sometimes need to double-check) but I usually don’t use links or screenshots. Just the occasional picture of my dog.
BSF was questioning Reagor. Reagor shifted like he was afraid ball would hit him in hands.
There’s a reason Reagor is a major bust.
There were those calling for more Reagor appearances…
He is a huge liability at the WR position…like him as a punt returner though.
I’m fine with more appearances if they are designed plays for him, similar to somebody like Patterson.
He can’t just be a regular WR out there though.
Not until he knows the playbook and if he doesn’t know it bye now it’s unlikely he’ll grasp it before the year is out. Agree that if it’s designed plays for him – bubble screens or jet sweeps where it’s simple and all about his athleticism – that I’m for him being used more. Physical ability is there. It’s his mental game that prohibits more snaps.
Not necessarily just screens and sweeps, like on a 4th and 1–I’d bring him in and send him on a go route. Just run right by some nickel or dimeback.
Love it. He’s got the ability to take the top off a defense for sure.
Right, he just needs to have one thing to do each play. He doesn’t know how to get open and be relied on as a regular WR.
If he can be WR4 and not muff punts for 2 years than it was a good trade IMO
Agree.
No, I’m a fan of the trade. We aren’t the suckers who took him in the first round though.
I like the trade too. I’m assuming Skolly was talking about if that’s the most we get out of him, it’s a good trade. Was stunned on draft day that he went when he did and equally stunned Jefferson stayed on the board as long as he did.
Yeah. He was in for JJ on both the INTs. Guys got the physical talents. last week KOC said he was still learning the playbook. Hock picked it up within a week or 2.
Raegor could have easily cost us the game.
Think Hock passed his physical on Wednesday and played Sunday.
And he played well, too. Picked up the playbook in a matter of days, it looks like.
Had a solid game too, can’t remember numbers tho.
Thanks. I knew it wasn’t me. BSF was spot on with the take though. It looked like Cousins went wide on the throw when I saw it. Immediately thought Reagor had run the wrong route.
If BSF is in fact questioning Reagor’s sexuality it would make sense Reagor would be somewhat apprehensive about balls hitting him in his hands.
I didn’t look at that INT real close till he pointed out. I was mostly pissed when he quit on the one by EZ. As least run and stay in front of defender. JJ would have hauled in.
hahaha
Very cool story…
I made that link in the 1st half GDT…. That Reich had engineered the 2 greatest comebacks in football history (Also did it to Miami while he played at Maryland) and was fired by the Colts and was therefore sending the epic-comeback vibes via telepathy.
Some of the NFL subplots that happen over time are crazy. Previous largest comeback led by Reich in Buffalo, the same field where the Vikings engineered an insane comeback win just a few weeks ago. And then the Vikings top it with the largest comeback victory in history against Reich’s prior Indy team. It’s nuts.
Reich’s comeback was at old Rich Stadium. P sure that was imploded long ago, brah.
My bad…same city, different field. I suck.
I thought this was a cool post-game interview. Kirk got all “choked” but in a different way than past seasons…
Yeah that was cool. Seemed like he was having trouble processing the historic comeback along with how poorly they played to put themselves in that situation.
Which, fair enough. I don’t know how to process it 2 days later!
Wait a second, it’s still possible for the fkn Aints to make the playoffs?????
Yeah they can win division still. NFC South is horrible
That would suck.
the only way they can make it is to win the division, and Football Outsiders currently puts those odds at 2.8%
they’ll miss the playoffs, but they have hope, which makes me smile. I don’t mind when the fans are strung along for extra meaningless weeks.
FSP
If I ever get the money I’ll put a custom built toilet in my house that has that face painted on the bowl…. Fuck that guy.
And Fuck that dogshit Netflix movie where he’s played by Kevin James.
And while I’m at it….. Fuck Kevin James.
This is officially the weirdest Vikings season from my personal perspective.
Peterplaysskinflute. Go away.
I won’t be around much. Work is very busy at the moment.
What did DVOA have to say about the Vikings´ chances of beating the Colts, and the epic comeback? We still suck according to that metric?
we’re ranked 26th now (Indy is 31st)
See up top – we still suck
In the mythical words? Thanks, I´ll check.
Worried about another let down this weekend after a big win. (i.e. dallas after bills game, i.e.2. minneapolis miracle and philly smackdown)
Would normally agree. Not this week. Don’t know why but I think we roll them. Again, literally nothing I’ve seen this year backs that up. Just a feeling.
I am with Skoldiers…we get a big, emotional win one week and we shit the bed the next….
I blame Ponder.
Absolutely.
Totally.
100% agree.
Just not this week….
Giants aren’t that good though compared to cowpies. We’ll see but the trend exists of poor performance after a big win
We usually owned Eli and the Gnats, but that team has changed a lot, as well. Daboll seems to be a good coach, but I think the team will ride the high from their historic comeback win and win convincingly. KOC needs to keep them focused, #2 seed still at play.
Did anyone see the interview where they asked Eli if the Vikings had his number?
He goes through a list of Vikings players he knows, and who would have his number.
He has such a deadpan delivery.
LOL yup, that was great! Eli mentioned #22 having his number IIRC, among other Vikings players.
I think the 49ers end up with the 2 seed, honestly
Probable, but the Vikes still have a fighting chance. Just win out, Baby. Need as many home games as possible. Downside is, they won´t likely be able to rest (m)any players in the remaining games.
That’s my thinking as well. Still a ton to play for and the whole ‘shit the bed after a big win’ narrative is now public, GMFB just mentioned it this morning. The team is aware of this narrative as well and likely have been for a while. I remember GF having a feeling we’d beat the Patriots. I have a feeling we’ll beat the Giants. Convincingly.
I like it!
41-0 would be fun
And. Another. Demon. Exorcised.
I see what you did there…
CORRECTION: The best case scenario for a meaningless week 18 game as the 2nd seed is the following (credit to my son skolifer):
Thanks, dad. Where’s mom?
You’re mom has been abandoned bc she (lifer) sucks at fantasy football
Check the neighbors house.
BTW…that scenario is crucial, IMO, for a couple of reasons.
zero chance SF loses to the commandos this weekend, minimal chance they lose to Vegas, very small chance they lose to AZ.
Disagree on the Commandos take…their defense is good enough that it could bother a young QB…Of course SF is better, but I would not give it 0 chance.
Plus Chase Young could be back.
Zero chance, teams traveling from one coast to another have abysmal records, let alone against good teams.
Forgot about the coast to coast thing…
If it were the other way around I’d bet on the Commandos.
Agree, but its the NFL any team can win
And IDGAF, at some point there is going to be a game where Purdy looks like a 7th round rookie out there. It’s gonna happen.
If the Vikings can beat the Giants and Packers,
The Packers are likely mathematically eliminated by the time we play them. They could starting Love in that case–which makes that game even more winnable too.
Are you sure? If they win tonight and next week are they 100% eliminated still?
Probably not, but they aren’t winning both of those. They also need additional help from other teams. The Kitties and Giants winning yesterday were both bad for the Pack’s already tiny playoff chances btw….
they have a 4.3% chance at the 7 seed and a 0.5% chance at the 6 seed.
I’m guessing they’re not in control – they likely need help to make the playoffs at this point
Yeah, the Giants winning yesterday wrecked a slightly easier path for them.
If pukers win out and get to 9-8 and either the Giants lose out (8-8-1) or the pronouns lose out 2 or 3 times (8-8-1 or 7-9-1), then they can make it. Both of those teams beat green bay, so they need to be a half game up or more.
they have a useless tiebreaker over the cowboys, but the worst dallas can do is 10-7.
Even if the Packers somehow win out—the Giants play Phili the last game of the year. Phili will almost certainly have the #1 seed locked up and sit their starters. So that’s an auto win for the Giants.
Then the WFT plays Dallas in the final game of the year who will also have the top WC spot locked up and nothing to play for. So auto-win for WFT.
These facts likely sink the Packers regardless of whether they win out.
I’m not looking at anything to check my assumptions, but off the top of my head, if the Eagles lose out and the Vikings win the next 2, they would still have to win in week 18 to get the 1 seed, right? like, they’re all but mathematically eliminated from the one seed because it requires them to win out and another team to lose out.
Yeah that’s correct too. Eagles win one more though, they clinch 1 seed (after winning division of course)
Now our hopes require either another playoff team to beat the Eagles in Philadelphia for us, or to go to Philly and do it ourselves.
Both scenarios feel like tall orders.
Best odds probably lie with a divisional foe, but who knows, the Eagles have had moments of vulnerability.
turns out the Cowboys could still win the division, too, but same scenario: Eagles lose out, Cowboys win out. Would still require the Vikings to win out to get the one seed over Dallas.
Still more likely SF gets the one seed, IMO
Said it below but Vikings are unlikely to rest anyone week 18 and likely have to try all three remaining games. Only way they rest is if we lose next 2 games and niners win both. We’d be locked into 3rd seed
I guess another scenario is if we win next 2 and niners lose next 2 we’d clinch 2nd seed. Unlikely though
If we win next 2, we only need SF to lose 1 to lock the 2nd seed. That would put them 2 games back with 1 to play.
What is the tiebreaker with SF? Conference record?
Yeah they have conference tiebreaker
If the Vikes win the next 2, don’t the Niners just have to lose 1 of their next 2 and then they would clinch the 2 seed?
Yes. SF has the tie-breaker based on conference record but the Vikings are 1 game up, with 3 to play. If the Vikings can beat the Giants and Packers, and SF loses to either Washington or Raiders, that would put the Vikings up 2 games with 1 left to play.
That’s their ideal scenario because then they could choose to rest some guys at the Bears in week 18.
You’re correct, my bad. What skolifer said.
Best case screnario: we win next 2 and hope niners lose 1 between wash and raiders. Then week 18 is meaningless for everyone
Well you and Skoldiers figure it out and let us know what the consensus is.
had a family christmas on saturday so didn’t see any of the first half. (BUMMMMED)
threw it on after presents and kids were all doing their thing and me and my dad and mom and my wife and sister watched the 2nd half…
my mom is a saint “oh….we can still come back, don’t have those doubts freezey”
mom….we are down 33 points. you don’t get it….
looks like mom got it. she knew all along
Your mom calls you freezey?
your mom doesn’t call you mjolnir???
Nope. She dead.
Lmao. Dying…..
Good day at the gym this morning.
got 8 reps at 315 on squats. Usually don’t do more than 5-6 reps.
But damn did it feel good.
That is a solid set for 8, brah. I squat tomorrow. Probably shooting for 275×8 for a couple sets, then 295×5. Nothing crazy.
Thanks!
295X5 is not bad at all.
It’s just working sets. Not maxxing or anything. Too old for that.
Jay Cutler (the bodybuilder) said once you get your legs the size you want–all you really need to do for squats is 225 for sets of 10 and you’ll maintain what you have. Good to know as a 40+ year old lifter now……
I’m 44 and don’t get too crazy. I’ve been doing about the same weight for a few years now.
My squat day looks like this:
135 X8
225 X 8
315 X 5-6 usually.
275 X 5-8.
I aim for 5-8 reps these days. Sometimes I’ll switch the 225 with the 315, but jumping from 135 to 315 feels off to me. If I haven’t done squats for a few weeks I’ll go for 295 instead.
275 is my favorite weight. Its a decent amount of weight and feels good when doing it.
.
I don’t go to the gym. I feel like that would be akin to trying to touch up the Mona Lisa. Leave perfection alone.
You musta seen some nice cocks
I can bench like 70 lbs. NBD.
Thirdly, it is not an over reaction to say that Osborn is better than Thielen at this point.
Thielen has had a hell of a run, but Osborn is bigger, more physical, and faster/quicker..
Thielen is still a great route runner and has great hands, but Osborn should be number 2 going forward.
I agree, KJ should be WR2, and honestly, AT may do better as more of a slot receiver.
Said that at beginning of year
thielen is a nice red zone operator. honestly barely anything more than that. maybe a 3rd down specialist but he has gotten so SLOWWW
Duke Shelley is a fun story so far. Hope he continues to improve, would be really nice to find a CB diamond (or even zirconia) in the rough.
He’s inconsistent. He’s sucked against the lions last week
Probably what you’d expect of a practice squad callup who was a 6th round draft pick and got waived.
Listening now. He seems cool.
Secondly, who would we rather play in round 1….
Giants, Washington, Seattle or Detroit?
I would love another shot at Detroit.
Any of those.
I’d say Giants or Detroit.
I don’t really want to face that Washington DL again and I’ve said all year that Seattle just seems like a bad matchup for us on both offense and defense. I don’t think Seattle makes the playoffs though.
Seattle sucks
Those are the teams we struggle against. They have the 7th ranked offense in football and would go up and down the field on us IMO.
And their defense is young and fast – I’ll play anyone, that’s what it’s all about, but I’d also rather not play Seattle.
They’re so good they aren’t even gonna make the playoffs.
I don’t think they will–no. But I still don’t like that matchup.
I don’t think it’ll matter much who they end up playing, likely outcome is a close win in WC and then curb stomping by SF
Yeah, unless somehow SF gets upset WC weekend. Never know.
As it stands right now it’d either be NYG or Commandos traveling to SF, absolutely zero chance either time wins that game.
WFT will have Chase Young back for that game. Anything is possible if that DL gets after Purdy.
Hard pass in division opponents. Any of those three are fine. I prefer seattle or giants probably
Whoever would have to travel the furthest
First of all, we (the fam) were at that game this weekend…
Didn’t leave….
Screamed for all we were worth the 2nd half.
We are taking partial credit for the win….Thank you.
You witnessed history live. In person. Pretty cool. Bet you never forget it.
I was there for the AP rushing record game, I was in Dallas for the Moss Thanksgiving game….This one was easily the best…no I will never forget it.
how many people left? i heard not very many
I don’t know if I’d leave at halftime, but that would be the game to do so.
I usually leave in the 4th quarter after a bad turnover down multiple scores, if I do.
i’d stay the whole time not thinking we would come back, but thinking about all the money i spent on them haha
I’m with ya’, I’d stay to the end.
“I’m gonna squeeze every cent out of what I gave you stupid mfers”
yep 100%
Exactly, if I went to all 8 home games a year I might have left early..but when you only go to 1 or 2 you might as well stick it out.
I would say about 10 to 15 thousand left….but those who stayed gave it their all.
oh that’s a ton
Yes, around 20% left would be my guess…the two sitting next us left early 3rd, which was fine with me…gave us some room to spread out.
I was there too… and that number seems high to me personally.
Stands were still 90%+ full.
Thanks for sticking it out. I truly believe the crowd made a big difference in the 2nd half. Plus, I was reading some stories about Vikings’ fans who left early…
Very nice! Awesome to have been there in person, a game for the ages.
Is it weird to have just one buttcheek spasming? Think I might have gone overboard on the coffee this morn…
You’re fine, you can drink more coffee. When both start spasming, drink a glass of water, then you can drink coffee again.
Good points. More coffee is the obvious solution.
Or not enough, got to balance it out and get both butt cheeks. You’ll be twerkin while you’re workin.
Good thing I have a standing desk, then!
I have one that goes up and down automatically. A desk, I mean.
call MT if it stays up for more than 4 hours
Musta taken a pretty intense pounding last night, try topping next time.
well if I’m gonna take advice from anyone…
Smart. He’s knows the symptoms better than most.
True, but sadly he cannot be a log cabin as i
Chunk doesn’t call me buttjammin for nothin
LOL!
For anyone wondering – sitting on the throne until my butt went numb seemed to fix this.
oof, that’s too bad. Crazy how hyped up the Colts were this season, defending rushing champ and Matt Ryan coming in to fix all their QB problems, vs how it’s actually gone.
Their oline sucks
but i was informed their oline was the best ever (by five)
it was, but only after they got Andrew Luck killed for 7 seasons.
and then only when they had bad QBs
Used to be, but then their LT retired, list a couple guys to FA and all of a sudden you suck.
Colts going nowhere anyways: not worth further injuring him
I really hope the game at Soldier Field this year is meaningless and we can rest people–cuz there is no effing way win there.
I’m a bit more optimistic – I just refuse to believe the outcome is decided anywhere but on the field. That said, Soldier Field has been a house of horrors for the Vikes most of my lifetime, save for a few MNF games in the 90’s, so I get why you say that.
There is just something about playing there. Look at the Eagles only beating the Bears by 5 there yesterday. That’s 30+ point victory for the Eagles on any other field.
I agree. I remember a MNF game in the 90’s where we went in with Salisbury and blew them out. Jack Del Rio got a pick on his knees and got up and took it to the house with nobody touching him. Just a few data before Christmas iirc.
And of course, AP’s coming out party where the Vikes gave up an 80 yard score to Devin Hester, used AP on a kick return and Longwell walked it off. AP went for over 200 for the first time in his career.
That was 2007. The next time we won in Soldier was 2015 (Bridgewater to Charles Johnson Hail Mary type catch).
I remember now. Diggs had a 40 yard catch and run in the 4th to tie it up. Think that’s the year Walsh shanked the game winner against Seattle at TCF.
I think Vikes will have to try all 3 remaining games. They’ll likely still be in hunt for 2nd seed
Only way week 18 is meaningless is if we lose the next 2 and niners win both
Or if we win the next 2 and the niners go 1 and 1.
Or if we go 1 and 1 and the niners go 0 and 2…
Or If we go 2 and 0 and the niners go 0 and 2.
Lots of ways where the last game doesn’t matter.
What would be the tie-breaker for the #2 seed if we end up with the same record as SF (since we didn’t play them head to head)?
Conference record
And where is that currently sitting for each team? Unfortunately all of our losses are from the NFC.
Correct if we are tied, San Fran wins.
Is it possible for us to overtake that tiebreaker though? Or likely that just the wins alone secure the seed?
There is no scenario where we are tied with the 49ers and we get the higher seed…
Yeah, all MN losses are NFC, whereas 2 of SFs losses are AFC.
ahem
It doesn’t work for you? Have you updated your browser?
Lions fans have suddenly have flooded Twitter with crazy shit talking. The Vikings are a hot mess, and the Lions are playing well, but quite a few of their fans have lost their minds.
what are they talking crap about?
they are talkin crap about stuff
Maybe I’m just not used to seeing the Lions with a decent team, but they seem to think the Vikings will get crushed by the Lions if they can just get to the playoffs.
Could it happen? Sure.
But their level of confidence in their teams while completely discounting the Vikings is annoying to say the least.
That’s cute. They believe after like 4 games. Surely nothing bad or crushing could come from that kind of belief in the team.
I mean, for the NFC they are not a bad team. But it’s a pretty low damn bar this year.
Jets WR’s were running wide open down field all game. Wilson is just super inaccurate. Kitties can’t cover halfway decent WR’s.
Remember that one year on the DN when all those Raider fans came over & were talking crazy shit before the Vikings played them? Vikings just slaughtered the Raiders, it was hilarious.
I remember that game – Vikes opened the scoring early with a wide open AT TD from Cap’n Kirk and never looked back.
To be fair, its not a lot of them. Lions fans are usually some of the easiest to get a long with.
I mean, how often do THEY get to talk shit? Let them talk. We see them it’ll be in Minnesota and I like our odds. I just don’t hate Detroit. They’re fun to watch and that fanbase has suffered a bunch too. I’ll keep my vitriol on what matters: FTP, The KC fanbase and Sean Payton and Greg Williams.
I went onto Lions Twitter and was going to post a congrats. I found a whole group who already mapped out their playoff run.
Best for them that they get the Vikings, who they were 100% sure would be a blowout victory.
Anyways, I didn’t even post anything and figured I would leave them to it.
That’s fair – and should we play them I’ll want to rip off their heads and shit down their necks. And should we win let the trolling ensue. But until then, I’m rooting for them. I like MCDC.
Yeah, I agree. There’s a dude named Chim Richels that used to come around at the DN. He’s been here before, too. Good guy.
Yep. I like him too.
I remember that, it was Zim’s second year and Carr was putting up big stats, so all the Raider fans were like “just wait till you see what Raiders do to that D” then the Vikings defense went out and buttfucked Vegas, AD went for like 200 and the Vikings won in a blowout.
Wait. Was that game in Oakland? AP had an 80 yd td run in the final 3 minutes to seal the game? The one I mentioned above was in Minny.
Yeah, road game, I believe.
Okay – when Ben said Zim’s 2nd year I knew I was off. That was in November of 2015 (about the time I started lurking at the DN) the game I mentioned was Week 4 in 2019.
Carr threw a red zone pick to Terrence Newman in that 2015 game. Then AP parted the seas on a long TD run to ice it.
Picking up what you’re putting down now…. I remember. I think Newman had 2 picks in that game.
I also remember that game because Rudy dropped an easy TD where he was just standing by himself, nobody w/in 10 yards and he just stone hands the throw from Teddy.
Man, I remember that, too. He had two kinda like that in that season, which is odd for him.
Yeah, it was weird.
Yes, in Oakland, though the game was already decided when AD ran in the 80 yard TD.
I remember.
So, I hate talking about refs but since we won and given the past two weeks…
Against the Lions, JJ clearly stays in bounds and runs down the sideline for what would have been a TD (and potentially changed the outcome of the game). Blown dead, take 7 points off the board.
Against the Colts, two (count them, two) clear scoop and scores but once again refs blow the whistle prematurely and take 14 points off the board. The refs take no responsibility but the Vikings get a 15-yard penalty because a player disputes the 2nd egregious call on the field.
IMO, NFL officiating is at an all-time low. They’re making game-changing mistakes in pretty much every game, every week and there’s zero accountability, whereas players’ and coaches’ jobs are on the line. Not to mention a lot of dollars changing hands on betting these games, point spreads, etc.
When is the league going to do something about it? It’s getting really, really bad.
The NFL is rigged. All star wrestling is the only true sport left. Just gotta hope that the NFL actually wants the Vikings to win it all.
My problem with “conspiracy theories”?
So many turned out to be true, the last 3 years especially…
i love this “nfl is rigged” thing.
so would it just be the ref’s in on it?
I think the net behind the goal posts is 100% rigged.
Lol big if true
NFL brass and refs to make it happen, yes. I don’t think they rig every game and certainly not every play, but they heavily push games in one direction and if the team they want to win loses by circumstance (probably <5% of the time), it doesn’t matter for their desired season outcome.
Meh on the Lions game play, I think it’s easily arguable and defendable by the refs that JJ’s heel hit the white (if my memory serves me correct), so I won’t go agree on that particular play.
BUT, they were bad on Saturday, and I saw a couple games yesterday where the refs really made me scratch my head. Seems at times like some of the crews like to make it about them, trying a bit too hard and not just letting the game go.
Last night that was clear pass interference on the final play imo… how that’s missed idfk
He’s got the best angle in the building to see that his heel isn’t touching.
But that play also falls into the bin of why the refs are just hamstringing themselves – let the play go and have someone review it to see if you bring it back.
You can’t add yards on if you fuck up the call, but you can take them away if you realize it was wrong later.
I agree they should let it play because you can always go back, same with questionable “down by contact” plays.
Thank for you the still shot but at some point I believe it’s easily defendable to say you fully believed his heel touched the ground either 0.5 seconds before or after your picture. Just my opinion but it’s the correct one.
AJ Brown had a very similar play yesterday vs the Bears. Ref ruled him in bounds and ended up being correct.
I would prefer that’s how they handle it. I rarely defend refs, but this time I must, they make calls based on what they see or perceive on the field, making split second decisions. Not sitting watching on their moms TV checking slow mo zoomed in replays for 15 minutes.
He got it wrong but not letting it go, but you’d have to be a dinkus to believe there is NO WAY he could have POSSIBLY believed his heel hit the white
Makes the comeback even more impressive considering the refs took 14 points off the board, just like that. That crew on Saturday was even worse than the ones we had vs Bills and Lions. Fuckers tried everything to keep the Vikes down.
Some horrendous calls, that facemask penalty on the punt return was probably the worst. Absolute garbage. Jerome Boger level refereeing.
Boger is the worst. Besides that POS Pete Morelli that rigged the 2009 Championship Game (per league direction, likely).
Pete Morelli can rot in hell for all I care. That game was rigged, and he fucked us again in the snow game vs Ravens in Baltimore.
This is funny since Kodiak posted about how the NFL wants the Vikings to win, and then the next two games there were some horrible, game altering calls going against the Vikings.
I was thinking about that Kodiak post on Saturday after both of those terrible calls. Getting 14 points erroneously taken away and still finding a way to overcome is kind of like the opposite of luck, IMO.
The NFL tried to fight Jobu and lost. I don’t know who but somebody must have bought some damn good rum. Whoever you are, we thank you and keep it up.
Actually, it would have been12 points…. extra points aren’t a for sure, remember?
Don’t forget the awful ref clotheslining Bynum in Washington….
The performance slide in NFL officiating mirrors society in general…no one is held to standards anymore…too worried about shit that doesn’t matter.
“mistakes”
so the chiefs are amazing because they overcame a really tough texans team and were able to outlast them in overtime….
but the vikings suck because we let the sucky colts score 1 offensive TD against us and it took us all over overtime to beat them.
ok got it, thank you
Now you are getting it Freezey!! Its mostly because the Vikings are led by that Dork Cousins, and the Chiefs are led my all world Mahomes….(sarcasm)
Good Morning NFC NORF Champions!!!!
Still couldn’t wipe the smile off my face with a brick.
I don’t know why, as I have no reason to believe this from what this team has shown me this year but…….
I think we get that decisive win this weekend. I think we blow out the Giants.
Could be way off, but there’s still more to play for to ensure home games in the tournament and I think clinching the division like this will have this team playing loose.
That said, Joseph winning a 5th game of the year with his leg in the waning moments next weekend would shock nobody.
Skol!!!!
That’d be so awesome to not see a let down but rather a ramping up after a big emotional victory! SKOL!
The Giants suck. They literally drafted a QB in the first from fucking Duke.
Yep. The pick before Josh Allen….
Oh wow. Didn’t realize that.
He wasn’t drafted the pick before Josh Allen the QB, he was taken with the pick before Josh Allen the DE/LB, mlonlib is probably high and confused.
No, he’s just the best kind of correct – technically correct.
no no the right kind these days is politically correct sorry just the way it is dumdum
and in my views, passed down from the eternal Woke Abe, political correctness is technically correct.
you may consider yourself owned, stu.
LOL what a gif
is that like 4 necklaces and 3 bracelets?
when is it too much?
Only you would notice her jewelry lol
well, that was after watching the gif like 5 times tbf
too much jewelry does confuse my little monkey brain, though.
there was jewelry?
According to COHF5years, though I didn’t notice any
Correct on both counts!
LOL, I just assume so on a regular basis, the two Josh Allens in the NFL is confusing sometimes
LOL
That’s pretty funny. CJ be like, “we gonna get that ass, Jimmy.”
Yep, other dude trying to look all intimidating, CJ gives him a smile.
CJ is one of the main believers on the team, according to Dalvin. One of the things he said at that thing I went to.
I imagine CJ can squat the Earth for a few reps….
Beefy dude. I still remember seeing Danielle Hunter from about 15 feet away when I was at training camp with supa in Mankato that year. Same year I dropped the Blair Walsh field goal (I didn’t drop my beer, though).
Danielle Hunter is a friggin beast. Dude’s biceps are almost as big as my thighs.
Haha that rules.
Yep! When I saw that live I turned to the mutt and said ‘Here we come!’ – if dogs could roll their eyes he would’ve.
