Many thanks to Lifer for covering the thread yesterday. I was traveling back from Billings, and forgot to get the thread ready. After posting the wrap-up, I was happy to have a break from that crap fest of a game, and I was on vacation, so it was easy to forget to do. Anyway, much appreciation to Lifer.

Sigh. The game. That horrible, crappy, stinky game. What do you do with that? Do you need to do anything with that? I don’t know. There are no excuses for that performance, but I don’t think we need to read too much into it, either. There is no logical reason to expect the Vikings to go undefeated, so getting overly worked up over a loss is illogical to me. That being said, I HATE that team, and I HATE losing to that team. Jaire Alexander is a classless clown.
This is a flawed team that has been finding ways to win games all year. They currently sit at 12-4, are NFC North Champs and are the #3 seed going into the playoffs*. If you’d have told any of us at the beginning of the year that the team would be in this position heading into game #17, we’d have been elated*.

I don’t EXPECT this team to go all the way, or to mow through any team in the regular season or the playoffs. That doesn’t mean that this team can’t pull off some crazy playoff run and finally win the ultimate prize. Is it likely? Hell no, but we’re in the playoffs, so it’s possible. I’m gonna enjoy the ride, and I’ll get to see round one in person. I can’t wait! SKOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

One of those situations where you realize that there are things more important than sports. Last night’s Monday Night Football game was suspended after Bills S Damar Hamlin collapsed on the field, story courtesy of CBS Sports. It was very strange. Hamlin made a tackle, and looked fine as he stood up, but then he just fell over. They were performing CPR at one point, and Hamlin was removed from the field in an ambulance. As of this writing, the players are still not back on the field, and Hamlin’s condition is not known. Prayers to Hamlin and his family and friends. So sad.

Any dads on here care to comment on the scenario of flying across the country to spell and keep company your criminology grad student son on a cross country drive…when the son just happens to live ten miles from a major nationally televised unsolved crime scene? You would think the subject would come up in the 28 hour drive. Maybe the guy was such a cool customer dad didn’t suspect anything. I always felt my dad could see right through any flim flam I threw his way.
I thought that was kind of odd myself, unless it is common practice for them.
I wouldn’t put it past the dad to keep quiet if he learned his son is responsible for something criminal. Not sure what I’d do when faced with the decision to turn in my own child or suppress justice.

He was dead. Rule #1 with CPR is you always start with someone dead. Less than 10% become not dead after CPR. This kid was fortunate to have world class health care and equipment there. I expect he will be fine.
Just my two cents but I doubt there will be any quick answers. Such a high profile case they will have to review any pro-arrhythmogenic drugs he may be taking, possibly do a cardiac cath and electrophysiologic workup, maybe a cardiac MR. Then there is the issue of the temporary loss of oxygen to the brain, any possible injuries? I personally would hate to have to make the call whether he can play professional football again given the potential possibly unsubstantiated risks.

He honestly didn’t help matters any. I don’t know what happened on Sunday, but that was an entire team meltdown again, just like Dallas.
Kirk was off all game.
He has always been slower to read the defense post snap, and as everyone on here has pointed out, will freeze up staring downfield when trying to figure out the coverage.
he is really good though if he can read and diagnose the D pre-snap. We used to use motion so he could figure out if its man vs zone, and he has 6 different snap cadences to figure out blitzes.
Losing the center was huge for him. He now had to go on 1 or 2, which fucks his ability to read the D. Plus, no way your going with motion when the center can’t seem to get the ball hiked in time.
There’s some QBs that could have pulled this off. Not Kirk though.
The center not pointing anything out or kirk being able to diagnose the def was very impactful to Kirk in a bad way.
He had a piss poor game, but a large factor was a NFL center that had no clue what to do

Bradbury is a top-10 center on PFF. His 70.2 grade is easily the best of his career, and it puts him in the 10th spot out of 38 who are considered. The 27-year-old center has been in 12 games this year, piling up 810 snaps. He only has 2 penalties called on him during that time.Dec 9, 2022

Packers early in the game did not even disguise their defense. Lined up with 4 D-backs and 8 in the box. KOC ran right at it.
That personnel is fucked trying to double JJ, Hock and send Cook into the flat. They can’t cover it all.

KOC’s master plan was to run all the WRs deep than sneak Hock into the middle of the field. They did it so many times that GB just started jumping the routes.

So far I’ve got nothing.
I know, I’m with ya’. I wouldn’t say I have optimism, but I have the knowledge that anything can happen, so there is a sliver of hope that the Vikes go on a miracle run in the playoffs. It’s not uncommon, actually. I can think of a few times it’s happened fairly recently, the Giants in 07 & 11, plus the Ravens that year when Flacco went all-world for the playoffs.
I don’t EXPECT a win, but I know that wins can happen. I’m actually optimistic about our round one game, I think we match up well against the Giants.
Same with puke in 2010 or whatever year that was. I think we match up well with Giants too. Plus Danny Jones never played a playoff game and he’s on the road. Way different vibe than a reg season game

KOCs playcalling is interesting. Early in the season we used to bring JJ in motion. That rarely happens. Playcalling is pretty vanilla too. We don’t have to be running trick plays all day, but the last few games we run a pretty standard offense.

That 12-4 record is fool’s gold. Should have lost nearly half of those 12 wins. I gave the team time to improve and get ready for a hot playoff run, but they had way too much trouble with the Giants and showed their true colors last week.

I just know this roster isnt it. It wasnt in August and its not now. The miraculous wins were super fun and im glad we have them, but thats unsustainable and the reality is most of this roster and the old regime of players are past their due. A new era and rebuild is needed here. Folks need to accept that.

I misread the post, I read “XBox One X” not XBox One…I also have the latter and enjoy it periodically.
I’ve really enjoyed my Xbox One. I have nothing against Playstation, I just like the Xbox price point better, and it’s backwards compatibility has been nice.
I’m kind of waiting to see if the Series S comes down to around $200. It is at $240 right now. It doesn’t have a disc drive, so that is one reason it is cheaper. The Series X has the disc drive/blue ray, I believe, and is substantially more.
I am a hard copy purist with movies but not so much with video games. I haven’t bought a physical game copy in years. Downloading them is too easy, and if you stay about a year behind, pretty cheap.
I like downloading games. Extra harddrive space is cheap, watching game prices is easy, and not having to swap physical games all the time is rather more convenient than I would have thought.

I talked my boys out of it. The wanted it the moment the Xbox told them to buy it, but they purchased one game and each got another on Xmas and they seem content for now.
I pay for the Nintendo version, though, so I understand the value of a gaming subscription.
I think I paid $250 for ours last week, I was pleasantly surprised that it was that low.
This is not just for wrenage…So how does the S work? I’m going to screw the terms up, but the game code is not physically stored on the device? When you boot up a game is it downloading it off “the cloud” onto volatile memory? What happens if you temporarily don’t have internet access?
You can download games onto your device and then they’re stored there locally. Depending on the size of the game(s) you buy and the size of harddrive you have, that might not be a very practical solution for long.
I know that with my Nintendo Switch I download the games and can delete them for the sake of space if needed. The local memory remembers my save data, so if I redownload the game later (which is free) I can pick up where I left off. It’s a good system.
Cloud gaming makes me a little nervous, but I’m sure it will get more robust and reliable for a majority of locations eventually. Not sure about a Montana shouse, though.
Oh I see…that’s not as big of a deal as I thought. I have a (I believe) 2TB external drive plugged into my One and loaded all my game content on there. Not having a physical disk wouldn’t bother me as if I put in a “new” game (for me, but released two years ago) the system has to do a long update on it anyhow, plus every week one or two on my ~ 30 games does an update (especially FortNite). I’ll have to read more on the differences between an S and an X.
I got the S, and we love it. Bought it mainly for Madden, but I’m gonna get Call of Duty too.

Read into this: The Vikings have a negative point differential and have been one of the luckiest teams in history in one score games this season. Their defense has given up 414 points this year, the closest other playoff team to that is 356. They have been absolutely embarrassed in pants shitting fashion 3 times this year on national TV and the other loss double digits too. Now add the fact they just lost their best olineman for the rest of the season, have no center on the active roster, just got their asses kicked all over the field against a weak Packers team where Rodgers only threw for 150 yards. Yeah, really looks positive, SB here we come.

I am exercising the work-from-home option today. Love working from home. It doesn’t affect my productivity at all, and I am roughly 1,382 more comfortable.

FWIW there have been players suffer significant neck injuries with spinal cord contusions, taken off the field by ambulance, and the game goes on. NFL is a violent game.

I have the reasons they won’t. They’re frauds who don’t show up in primetime against good competition. They did one time this year, at Buffalo. The rest were flawed teams who were ripe for being beaten. I’m also warming up to cousins not being the answer longterm. He’s a talented QB and I don’t fault him for all their struggles but he’s just not the leader to get a flawed team to the next level. I agree with five time to jettison old expensive players, horde cap space and draft picks, build the lines and defense and draft the Wake Forest QB and build a contender over the next 3 seasons.

Yeah….remember in Kung Fu movies the quick hit to the chest and the guy falls over because his heart stopped. Basically that, a condition called commotio cordis where the heart after a blunt impact goes in to ventricular fibulation or a rapid spastic rhythm where blood is not being pumped throughout the body. Likely he has some type of underlying heart condition, cardiomyopathy or enlarged muscles in the ventricular side of his heart. The hit was absolutely nothing just a high wrap up on Tee Higgins who’s shoulder kinda hit him in the chest. He popped up then fell straight back. I think he definitely has some type of heart issue that caused this to happen. I think he’s going to be ok from the sounds of things. They got his heart back to a normal rhythm and he’s on induced intubated sleep resting.
Hmmm… don´t know how much those scenes in Kung Fu movies are based on reality, like the five finger death punch…

Not many teams have 4 centers on their team. They’ll find someone. The system is much more friendly to linemen, they can work someone in. Hopefully it’s someone who, unlike Reed, has experience at center.
